The plane looks unfinished to me. While it is in junkyard now, why do they need to cover it so well?

A fast question: Didn't China promise stop copying Russian technology which means the end of J-11B?

The plane is only used for stress testing purposes. They hang those weights, then put the plane on a machine that will try to shake it to pieces. After this test, you can't use the airframe anymore, as its all going to be structurally worn out.

What China did promise, if ever, is probably not to produce any more new units of J-11B. That doesn't mean they will stop maintaining, upgrading or even modifying all the units (including the older J-11s and other flanker variants) they presently owned and for which they have already paid money for.

UPI is now helping Pinkov cover his backtracking. They posted his old story about the Su-33 deal he claims was spun by the Chinese to say was dead dated as today's news. I guess UPI knows Pinkov's lack of journalistic ethics are their lack of journalistic ethics.

I doubt they will stop J-11B. This looks like a long term, high number project.
Wouldn't it be better to invest in developing more 5th gen fighters?

I personally can't see too many J-11B's due to the Chinese decline of the Su-35.

The first Su-27SK are starting to retire after 16 years of service, the airframe life of these planes is 3000 hours, so I assume that they have been flying around 180 hours a year on average since they entered service.

Well the J-11B certainly had a part in declining the Su-35.
But I think the Chinese knew that it would be no match against Western 5th gens.

I think from this, I am assuming that the J-11B won't be made in that many numbers. no more than a hundred will be made I think.

I speculate they're focusing on their indigenous 5th gen projects.
