China 's high tech industrial base remain very weak, according to Us dept. of commerce 75% of high tech goods has to be imported.
If you dont believe it,just open your Chinese make cell phone or electronic appliances like DVD player, you going see a lot foreign content.
problem can be trace back to the 50's,when russian technician teach the Chinese engineer how to copy, rather than rely on innovation, second ,by far the biggest damage was mao,s cultural revolution.
a prof. from tsinghau university lament, that during the 50's Chinese technological superior to south korea, south africa ,spain,at par with japan, after great leap forward, and cultural revolution. it reverse.

China's ability to innovate on its own may be a topic for another thread (personally I believe while this is a setback, a more or less indigenous aircraft (with most likely with Russian engines) design is already in reserve should this have arisen and the small indications we've seen scattered around at recent airshows)

Back to the topic itself, kanwa is pretty reliable, the gist of what this is though is that they are saying that we should not expect to see any Su-33s in PLANAF service any time soon.

Man that was soooo long time ago Consumer electronic is thriving in China and there are hundreds of Fabs and Chip designer all over the place. I don't know why you need to bring 1950 statement T.hat was water under the bridge. Man stop beating dead horse You are entitled to your opinion But it not neccessarily true

Your knowledge of Chinese electronics industry is probably outdated by 50 years

A lot of foreign names there on chip don't fab the chips themselves, but fab it in Taiwan, China and Singapore. A good example is Qualcomm.

Not withstanding, there is a reason why the CEOs of companies like Intel to IBM go to Congress, to lobby for lifting restrictions on H-1B visas. Even Bill Gates himself made testimony.

What makes you think so, when China is already reaching the .045 nm stage? Godson is still at 0.09nm which should be covered by the fabs inside China. I never heard Godson being made in South Korea. Its made in China but by a French Italian concern, STI Microelectronics who has fabs in China.

Your looking at "foreign" content makes no sense. For example, before, there are made in Taiwan HTC smartphones that had a Samsung processor. Today, Samsung has an internet tablet that is powered by a made in Taiwan VIA C7 processor. So? What does it all say to you?

Trishul's blog has a reputation? I know he's trying to do a good blog, but he is going to have a few errors here and there like this one.

At least half of the J-11Bs in that regiment were already with the regiment as far back as last year.
