this is because if the deal is real you will see people saying that: J-10/11B/15 and even J-20 are not good
enough for PLAAF, they are copy-cat, that is why they are buying SU-35.

Maybe the "deal" is related to Putin re-election??

Well, if China is going to pay 4 billion US dollars to get 48 SU-35S, it will evidently be because it is better than J-10B and J-11B.

I am not sure that the deal is linked to the presential election, but while campaigning Putin visited Komsomolsk (KnAAPO) on 20 February. Besides seeing a T-50 in nice Air Force blue, he has very likely discussed the Chinese deal with the factory management. At least the local electors will be pleased to see the KnAAPO get export orders.

What is no doubt linked to the election is the spate of defence contracts that were concluded around 1 March, including 24 MIG-29K for the Navy and 92 SU-34 for the Air Force (to be delivered 2016-2020, following up on the 2008 order for 32 to be delivered 2015).

Hey look here. It says the Su-27 is the best fighter in the world. The Russians said it so it must be true.

That is a video documentary, that by the way is the best you can see up to know about the Su-27 program on youtube, that is not a political statement, the Russians are saying the best 4th generation fighter is Su-27, and it is more like a general review in terms of industrial, technical and economic success.

The Russian airforce commander said Russia will have large Su-35 fleet before 2011,but now only two are in service.the Russian airforce commander said Mig-35 equals to F-35.Do you seriously believe this crap? Besides, who is Fomin,Russian president?

ZHUKOVSKY (Moscow Region), August 16 (RIA Novosti, Howard Gethin

The Russian military will use new MiG-35D multirole fighters as an equal to the U.S. F-35 fighters, the Air Force chief said on Tuesday.

"We have not given up on the MiG-35D light aircraft project, but we will transfer to the T-50 [heavy fighter] in the future," Gen. Alexander Zelin, the Russian Air Force commander, said during his visit to the six-day air show MAKS-2011 that opened near Moscow on Tuesday.

The U.S. Air Force began using the F-22 fifth generation fighter in the 2000s. America is now developing a lighter and less expensive version, the F-35.

The MiG-35 is an advanced derivative of the MiG-29, which uses air-to-air and air-to-surface guided missiles and the Zhuk A radar (Zhuk AE in exports).

Relax. The President said the T-50 was better than the F-22. Below is why I don't read Russian news.

- They reported that China was buying the Su-33. Didn't happen.
- They reported that China was buying Tu-22. Didn't happen.
- They reported that China was buying T-50. Didn't happen.
- They reported that China's J-10 is a copy of the Su-27. Laughable.
- They reported that China's J-11B is a copy of the Su-30. Laughable.
- They reported that China's FC-1 is a copy of the MiG-29. Laughable.

Well, Komsomolsk only got the order for 48 SU-35S in 2009. The production schedule is:

2 in 2011
8 in 2012
12 in 2013
12 in 2014
14 in 2015

I also have some difficulty sharing the strong emotions that this subject apparently causes.

The Russian President is Dmitriy Medvedev until 7 May, when President-elect Vladimir Putin is inaugurated...

I don't see too much emotions from the Chinese side, but the Russians with a strong emotion to "sell" Mig29.Mig 31,Tu22,Su33 and Su35,

T50 to China every year. My advise is that the on-paper sell of those aircrafts to China dosen't make them good, increase the Russian

defence budget and put more resources on R&D will help, otherwise the case like losting the MMACA competence in Indian purchase will

happen again and again. The Su-35BM is a good aircraft on paper, but it doesn't fit the PLAAF's need to establish a both defensive and

offensive force. The PLAAF already had its own standard to build and maintain its heavy fighter fleet, import a fighter which is built with

another standard will only cause logistic troubles, that sounds to me to import Russian 7.62mm AK-47 to fire Chinese 5.8mm bullet.

I don't think this story is for real based on what we have seen from China. Let's wait and see. We hear about these sales to China all the time from Russia, but most of the recent stories have come up to be fakes. This is one of the few areas that I place some trust in Kanwa and they have not reported a thing.

This is interesting, I don't subscribe to Kanwa but did they seriously have no mention of this rumor at all?

Kanwa was tricked too many times from their so called reliable Russian counterpart for Chinese military development news that it become a laughing stock and readership drop. Now they are getting their acts together to improve the reliability and quality of their news regard china military development.
