This rumor gets picked up by mainstream media doesn't mean anything, both Sina and Phoenix TV reported 071#4's launch in Jan too.

Hmmm ... just found at the Key-forum (via "TR1"):

Sadly my Russian is even better than my Chinese.

Good find, but nothing new there, just looking at other potential SU-35S orders and the history of Russo-Chinese fighter cooperation.

But the sources are serious enough: The one to break the news, Fomin, is deputy director of the Russian Defence Cooperation Agency, and Kommersant is a serious business paper.

The Russian airforce commander said Russia will have large Su-35 fleet before 2011,but now only two are in service.the Russian airforce commander said Mig-35 equals to F-35.Do you seriously believe this crap? Besides, who is Fomin,Russian president?

ZHUKOVSKY (Moscow Region), August 16 (RIA Novosti, Howard Gethin

The Russian military will use new MiG-35D multirole fighters as an equal to the U.S. F-35 fighters, the Air Force chief said on Tuesday.

"We have not given up on the MiG-35D light aircraft project, but we will transfer to the T-50 [heavy fighter] in the future," Gen. Alexander Zelin, the Russian Air Force commander, said during his visit to the six-day air show MAKS-2011 that opened near Moscow on Tuesday.

The U.S. Air Force began using the F-22 fifth generation fighter in the 2000s. America is now developing a lighter and less expensive version, the F-35.

The MiG-35 is an advanced derivative of the MiG-29, which uses air-to-air and air-to-surface guided missiles and the Zhuk A radar (Zhuk AE in exports).

China did buy T-10K from Ukraine

again we don't know what actually happened, negotiations probably happened like Russia wanted to sell 50 but China only want to buy very few, so it didn't happen

i don't understand the condescension against Russia, their media is just telling stories their way

Kanwa and the cable story however, are pure rubbish

Well, Komsomolsk only got the order for 48 SU-35S in 2009. The production schedule is:

2 in 2011
8 in 2012
12 in 2013
12 in 2014
14 in 2015

I also have some difficulty sharing the strong emotions that this subject apparently causes.

The Russian President is Dmitriy Medvedev until 7 May, when President-elect Vladimir Putin is inaugurated...

this is because if the deal is real you will see people saying that: J-10/11B/15 and even J-20 are not good
enough for PLAAF, they are copy-cat, that is why they are buying SU-35.

The Russian President is Dmitriy Medvedev until 7 May, when President-elect Vladimir Putin is inaugurated...

Maybe the "deal" is related to Putin re-election??

This is not related to the flanker news but it does show the reliability of the Russian media when it comes to news like these.

In 2006 the Russian media claimed that China was purchasing 500 Su-80 airliners. The thread got bumped up recently at CJDBY. Finest example of grave digging ever since the thread claiming that China can't make F-22 style canopies was dug up when J-20 came out.
