China Coast Guard and Patrol vessels

I don't see why the numbering system can't apply. Are all the other ships numbering based on empty weight? If so, nothing different here except maybe everyone's expectation of 10,000+ tons but this could be another lost in translation episode. Maybe all along the over 10,000+ ton references to the ship loaded.

So is the consensus this ship will be powered by gas turbines? It really would be putting the quad QC280 config suggested for the 055 into real world use.

More than 10000+ is certainty which from a reliable sourse.I think the country cost guard vessel only has 4 number, the second number from 0 to 9 may be 9 is the max number . 9000+ will all get this number.

What is the thing at the front bottom tip for?

That is the locking mechanism for towing truck, used when the boat is towed on land.

Edit - on second thought it looked to be too complicated to be just a lock, could be used for attaching underwater sensors?

We are never at a loss on SD for waiting for exciting new pictures of activities that the PRC is working on, PLAN, PLAAF, PLA.

I am really excited to see these new large Coast Guard cutters and how they will be 1st; outfitted, and then 2nd; deployed...once their trials and induction are completed.
