Thanks a lot. If that is from Huangpu, that might be it. Was there while it was coming of sea trials but could not get photos.

Anyone have any photos of the 65m 600T vessels ? I saw one in NanTong numbered 5030 and then there was another I saw numbered 8003.

Thanks for any help.

Yes, Haijian-8003 is 600 ton. The 1500 ton one you are thinking of is 8001. Of course, it will get renumbered to Haijing something later.

Looks like Chinas investment in coast guard ships is paying off Haixun 01 is all over the news and doing the number right now for MH370

This is why they need 12,000 ton cutters this is the real benifit of these ships

But I have one question how is the Haixun 01 able to stay out at sea for so long are they doing Replenisment at sea with a CG cutter?

That is something I would like to see

I think there are 9 Chinese ships out there? Just don't know which ones so potentially an AOR is out there doing replenishment. Or maybe Australia is permitting resupply back at Perth?

Are Coast Guard ships equipped for underway replenishment? Just sailing behind the tanker at low speed is enough of course. And use a helicopter for solid matters.

I'm not sure Haixun 01 is over 1000km from shore so what it's coming back replenishing and then going back out again how much time are they losing doing that

There is more coast guard ships out there and navy has a replenishment tanker out there too I'm just curious how they are staying out there so long so far away they must be doing Replenisment at sea with those coast gaurd ships which is interesting

Haixun 01 has gone to Perth for re-supply, so it is not likely equip for fuel replenishment at sea.

Haixun 01 is a large ship of 5,400 tons and has endurance of 10,000 nautical miles - source Baidu.com

Said to be the bow section of the new 12k ton coast guard ship.

I wonder if it is possible for it to share part of the hull with the 055?

Certainly the right size for the 12k cutter.

I wonder if they will be built in the left building way of hall one, more importantly, how long will fabrication take? Because if JNCX really is building two of these bad boys, and if 055 construction is meant to start in 2015 (along with continued 052D construction for the next two to three years in building way two of hall one), then they only have a year and a half at most to launch two 12,000 ton cutters.

Mind, that may not be impossible considering a coast guard cutter will likely be less difficult to fabricate (never mind fit out) compared to a military ship of similar size, so who knows.

Still crazy to think CCG will soon get two "cutters" larger than almost all surface combatants on the in service today apart from the kirov class battlecruiser. Even crazier to realize that once the massive CCG spending spree is over it will displace as much as JCG and USCG combined, if not more.

With modular construction, I think 18 months is sufficient time to assemble two 12,000 ton hulls, especially not of military spec. Fitting out will be done outside of the hall. And we don't really know what is meant by start of 055 construction in 2015. Does that mean the modules for 055 begin to be assembled in 2015? That could mean much later in 2015 for actual hull assembly in the hall.

I am curious to what will be provisioned on a 12000 ton CG cutter. Will it be armed like the Russian CG Anadyr, USCGC Bertholf, or maybe Shikishima PLH-31? Will it sport any ASMs?

Yes, if a 2015 construction date for 055 only means module fabrication that could mean anywhere from six months to a year before it must take up any space in the building way, giving more leeway.

I posted a write up a few pages back saying we can expect a 76mm gun and two 30mm guns. Pretty normal for a ship of this class. The much smaller legend class has a 57mm gun and a ciws, by comparison, so the 12k ton cutters won't exactly be over armed for their weight.

Definitely no ASHMs though, they are coast guard ships not naval ships.
