Another try to solve HMX production rate mystery.
The factory bids
at least 22 batches of Acetic Anhydride and each batch is either 480 tons or 640 tons based on government auction information.
Here we take a rough estimation by 500t per batch then there will be 11,000 tons Acetic Anhydride auctioned by the factory.
Another metric is urotropin bidding amount, which totaled at least 7 batches this year and each batch comes with 495 tons of them. Then we have a total amount of 3,465 tons.
According to the very journal here, though I dunno how accurate the figure is:
| Acetic Anhydride | urotropin |
Estimated bidding amount | 11,000 tons | 3,465 tons |
Required per ton of HMX production | 2.28 | 1 |
HMX production rate deduction | 4,824 tons | 3,465 tons |
Unsurprisingly the ratio of two estimated figure comes very closely together. As I said, it is not a surprise to me that actual production rate is much higher than the previous 1,000-ton estimated, because it was deduced from very conservative estimation.
Tl;dr the actual production rate could be much higher, around 4,000 tons per year. But it was based on a rough chemical balance ratio, welcome to more detailed explanation on how many tons of chemical ingredient are required for HMX production.
