Now it is starting to make sense on this old news about five strategic models by CASC's solid engine design team.

As we have confidence that Institute 41 is working on SLBMs, they are making either 2 or 3 solid engines on each of strategic missiles.
IMHO, the JL-3 should be a three-stage missile (1st/2nd solid, Liquid PBV) with a similar size like Trident D5 but smaller payload weight due to geography and it leaves 3 strategic engines for ICBM.

The new ICBM could be a silo based DF-45 or a mobile ICBM with HGV warheads. However we have absolutely zero evidence that CASC is developing such HGV nuclear missile, the rumored DF-45 is more likely to be the case. Three solid stage with a liquid PBV, standard structure for almost every modern ICBMs.

Tl;dr CASC is developing five strategic models, 3 for ICBM and 2 for SLBM due to entering intensive production/test phase next few years.

Also my old post on follow-up about the so-called strategic task team in August.

And regarding the "党员突击队," there are 5 strategic solid motors.

Just wondering, sorry if its a stupid question, can MAD still be achieved by nuking the earth rainforests or antartica or even nuking american 10 largest water reserves? Say launch 400 nukes to rainforests and 400 nukes to antartica and 400 nukes to american water reserves? Would that achieve MAD?

No. Nukes aren't that energy dense. Antarctican ice is estimated to weigh 2.7 x 10^16 tons. You need around 3.33 x 10^8 Joules of energy to melt a ton of ice. So you need 8.9 x 10^24 Joules of energy to melt the Antarctican ice in the perfect scenario. The Tsar Bomba released 2.40 x 10^17 Joules of energy. So you need around 37080000 Tsar Bombas to achieve that in a perfect scenario of 100% energy transfer as heat. This ignores the subcooled nature of the Antarctican ice which would increase energy requirement by 50%.

If you want to achieve a true, total MAD - You might as well target the water reservoirs, riverways, lakes and agricultural regions of those countries.

Not with nuclear bombs, but with salted bombs.

The design department of CASC's solid rocket branch is auctioning at least 8 nozzle designs and 4 propellant designs as of today, it could be indicating how many engines they are aiming to develop next year.

I tried to find out specification they are auctioning and got automatic reply like "Please contact us directly with your bid for more details."
