Deep Dive Defense made a nice vid of the J-36. Well worth the watch:

And yes, its quality is at (least at) the level required for this forum!

He claims:

- J-36 might use a turbojet in afterburner for highspeed cruising while the other two turbofans run without afterburner
- J-36 will use it high speed and high altitude to target enemies at standoff ranges using its 270 degree radar coverage for fire and manoeuvre (F-pole).
Ramjet would have made sense, intake is so narrow, resembles a ramjet intake.
Guangcha team claimed it has a range close to 10000km.

Btw, first very serious sign that it may in fact be very fast (M=2.6+ longterm).
Almost all modern fighters don't touch 2+/2.35+/2.5+ flight for thermal reasons, cockpit glass being the first one.
KONP posted on Weibo yesterday that the COFFIN cockpit, i.e transmiting images onto screens inside the cockpit via exterior cameras, was considered in the early stages. From a thermal management perspective, this makes sense.

I giapponesi, gli italiani, gli inglesi, hanno smesso tutti di chiacchierare
SÌ! yes, a lot of people here (in Italy) are calling me for more information, because this double blow was not expected by anyone. I anticipated to them that it will be not just 2 but 3. (H-20). I thank all this community for enthusiasm, seriousness of information and allow me, a lot of passion. Thank you guys.

Its likely just the image quality, but it almost looks like the cockpit has windows on the side something like that of the SR-71.

I'm not an aerospace engineer, so I'll leave the analysis on the potential cruising and max speeds of the J-36/CHAD to someone more well versed in physics.

However from the visuals going around, a lot of folks seem to believe this triple engine beast will be flying high and fast.

Is it me or the TVC seems to be visible in this picture but only for the outboard engines?. They seem to be at different angles.

That really puts something for into perspective for me about the chase aircraft.

How many J-7s would it take to replace 1 J-10?

How many J-10s would it take to replace 1 J-20?

If this goes at like mach 2.5+ in addition to all the other features it has... Then it's really the real deal. Not some "oh the systems networked to it will take care of things" or "oh it's good because it can integrate sensors with it's friends".

Actual generational gap to 5th gen the same way F-22s rolling up on Iranian F-14s was for the last generation.
