Bloomberg could have been reporting fake news, or others in the BRICS wanted to put pressure on India and Brazil by leaking the negotiations to Bloomberg.

I feel like there is a reason why India is joining organizations like SCO and BRICS where China is the biggest player or de-facto leader. By joining these organizations it kinda inserts itself into China's foreign relations. If this is the case it would want BRICS to expand. Otherwise, China's relations with BRICS applicants would stay opaque to India.

Modi is weak. Not going to BRICS summit isn't the problem but he is behaving like a politician that is shortsighted instead of a leader that is looking for long term interest of India.

China doesn't need BRICS. Countries want to join BRICS because of China. BRICS could be a platform and a cover for many developing countries and global south to have an alternative to the Western liberal international order without picking a side.

Just like RCEP, India has no stomach to make a hard choice or reform. Modi is always taking the easy route or being an opportunist which is why India has been a failure for all these years.

NO!! INDIA thinks, wants, and acts like they're THE ONE'S SUPPOSED TO BE THE DEFACTO LEADER OF THE GLOBAL SOUTH and not China.

But the pertinent questions to be asked is why should India be the voice and leader for the Global South when it's very interests are being aligned with the very powers from the Global North and colonists that have made the very system severely unbalanced tilting against many Global south countries?
