I suspect western media are using Chinese reporters to add credibility to their anti-China views, much like we use westerners to defend. But I don't see Chinese Americans representing their birth country is an issue to me. the Olympics are organized by country, not by race. I Like Xi's 'community of common destiny for mankind' approach. I think globalization, regional integration, exchange of people are good things.
That's a cloak. To win, you exchange cheap things for expensive things; you exchange students for masters. When one is a gold medalist, he is a master and ready to come back.
I have confidence in my world view. But I don't act like I am right when I interact with people. I think it's other people's job to figure out the world. also I think people's world views tend to be more durable when they figure it out themselves from my own experience.
Sounds so nice, but if in the end, the result is that you haven't reformed any of them, then you've only provided warmth and comfort to traitors, making them think that their behavior is acceptable.
When you say 'betray their own blood, who disrespect their own ancestry," it's hard for me to understand what you really mean and where your boundary might be. conceptually these are very vague terms. I tend to be very careful with these terms because they can easily include a ton of people very arbitrarily while carry very negative connotation. And it's easy for people to disagree what counts and what doesn't.
A person who willfully causes harm or embarrassment to his/her nation or aides a hostile nation against his or her nation is a traitor. A person who hates his or her nation, wishing it failure is a traitor. A person who is content achieving remarkable things for a hostile nation is a traitor. A person who had to achieve remarkable things as a stepping stone and learning experience for a hostile nation but plans to continue his/her ultimate contributions to his/her home country is a hero.
The thing is many Taiwanese think they are patriots, of ROC Taiwan.
Well, that's the thing; sanity is required. An American cannot declare his house as sovereign property and himself as a patriot of his house; he is a traitor and an insane one at that, to the US. The Taiwanese know that Taiwan is stolen property, that it belongs to China. Trying to carve a piece of property out of your nation for yourself is the definition of being a traitor. It doesn't matter how they try to spin it.
With your vision, it will be two groups of Chinese patriots killing each other, each represent a part of China. We all know who will be laughing. I heard warning from both sides of the strait to not let the US bait the mainland into using force.
The US won't be laughing if the PRC successfully invades and takes over the ROC. A peaceful reunion is best, but one must be sober that in history, territories typically take over other territories by force or threat of force.
I think Taiwan and mainland are both part of China and Taiwanese are Chinese. That's why I care about them and be kind. Taiwan is part of my nation.
Also, I don't think Taiwanese think there are many mainland netizens share my moderate views. I worry the opposite: they think the mainlanders are all warmongers shouting 武统 all the time.
Why do you worry about that? Because you want them to peacefully and comfortably squat on stolen Chinese land as they believe that China will do nothing but try to talk about it forever? Thieves should live in fear until they figure out that the stress isn't worth the stolen property... or the owner takes it back, whichever comes first.

I love all people in Taiwan who consider themselves Chinese; they are Chinese brothers like everyone else. But those who wish the worst for China and want American dominance, it's kinda like surgery; when a piece of a patient is rotted, you just have to cut it off. These people might be Chinese, but for the good of China, they're better dead. Showing them kindness just doesn't make sense, like trying to nurse back a rotten piece of flesh that keeps leaching bacteria into the body as you pump nutrients into it.

Anyway, I see we are both patriots, but you are more like Ghandi and I ascribe more to Genghis Khan's style. We know who ended up a withered old man and who created one of the most impressive empires in history. I think we'll just agree to disagree on methods.

Even though it is reported by the Daily Fail, it probably did happen. Water pipes have a tendency to burst in cold weather. Hopefully they resolved it in a timely manner.
I just hate to see it happen because the coomon refrain of "Chinese made" or "shoddy construction" are almost always invoke to stigmatize anything Chinese made or constructed things.

The negative reportings are all MSM hate. If it was in the West using industrial buildings as a backdrop, the reports would be glowing with living in harmony with the old and hip as in having night club in a warehouse.
Well, apartments and villas converted from old factory halls are very popular in the West. They are so popular that only zillionaires can buy them. Even some new apartments are mimicking them.

When it is in America it is rustic charm, when it is in China it is industrial wasteland.
