Oh yes Western hypocrisy again. Now all of the sudden the athlete is guilty because someone they're associated with has a questionable history with PEDs? There was some coach that was a part of the Australian swimming team I remember reading back during the last Olympics in Rio because of the Mack Horton stunt who had a shady history.

I’ve read that China won’t be stripped of the gold medal for the Mao badge. They waited all this time to see the final gold medal total for both countries. If China was either equal in golds or had 1 more than the US, they would have stripped it.

A very successful Olympics for China. Not knowing what China’s Olympic Committee projected for this Olympics, but likely was 2nd for Gold medals and 2nd overall, which was achieved. Noting 1st place only won one more Gold medal than China. Comparing to all other Olympics China has competed at: equal most Gold medals for an away Olympics, most Silver medals at any Olympics, 2nd best total overall at an away Olympics. Other countries that did well at this Olympics include: Japan (expected as host nation), Australia, New Zealand.

So the final medal tally for China

Mainland: 38-32-18
Hong Kong: 1-2-3
Taiwan: 2-4-6

Total: 41 gold medals, 38 silver medals, 27 bronze medals = 106 medals!

Congratulations to all Chinese athletes!

Most Americans don't rest easy on an extra one gold victory. It could have gone either way. It's too close to call.

Also, many nations who are fence-sitters on US-China rivalry will continue being fence sitters. If you are a Japanese, would you want to be a frontline Guineapig to die for US hegemony against China? Or fence-sitters deliberating whether to join Anti-China alliance? After seeing China's performance in Olympics? I can see India, Japan, and Australia enthusiasm for QUAD wane give how powerful China is. Olympics is a proxy for national power.
