Greater China still got more gold medals than the big bully.

China has, adding Taiwan and Hong Kong, had total 41 gold medals.
This was completed before U.S. got their final gold medal. But I think you get the idea.

Further comparison with India.

Hong Kong just behind India. Hong Kong population 7 million India 1.3 billion. Lol

Let's rejoice with Hong Kong

I’ve read that China won’t be stripped of the gold medal for the Mao badge. They waited all this time to see the final gold medal total for both countries. If China was either equal in golds or had 1 more than the US, they would have stripped it.

Stripping the gold was never a consideration for a type of infringement. At most a fine/suspension.

Thus ends the Mao badge saga.

What a load of nonsense. A badge from a bygone time is political, but flying a flag and national anthem in the medal ceremony is not? Nor is wearing a cross on your neck? Wearing that Mao badge showing your loyalty to the country is no different than wearing national flag on your shirt. But oh no it's political. Gee.

Let's finish by reminding ourselves just how far China has come through the sweat and hard work of its people.

If you take the medal counts in terms of gold silver etc. This has been the most successful game for China outside of China (barring the Beijing Olympics).

I was trying to highlight how far China has come. From being the laughing stock, through political isolation to giants amongst sporting nations. Something we all should feel very proud about.

Sending more athletes doesn't equates to more medals. Also athletes have to meet certain minimum standards to qualify.

This is it. I'm not the one counting medals per se. I just against the way western MSM always using medal counts as propaganda against China. As far as I'm concern if China do well and give it it's all, that's good enough.

To me it was never about medal counts whatever the colour. It only became that because the western MSM have made it so. So if that's the case. China should add the one gold won by Hong Kong and two won by Chinese Taipei. Give it a total of 41 gold. US can add 1 for puerto Rico making then 40.

There you go, China wins. That's what trump would have done. But as I said, we are bigger than that, and its not a dick measuring contest. I'm just pleased that we have performed so well, and all athletes have given their hearts out.

Here here. Dont forget China achieved the best result outside of Beijing games, and this dispite the loaded dice the western nations have pre loaded with quotas, and games no one else plays like baseball, soft ball, equestrian etc.
Did anyone else here catch the paradox in that NYT header (okay, maybe an intern updated it on Saturday night)...because according to the NYT, US has been ahead of China in medals all along. What is there to catch up to?

it's not easy when the games are rigged against you from the start tbh.

Most Americans don't rest easy on an extra one gold victory. It could have

When you consider that one Chinese athlete was robbed of a gold medal because of an Indian judge… really makes me wish China did have black bag ops/death squads

Exactly. With quotas, and games nobody else plays. And to make extra sure, loaded with judges like the Indian guy.

In the end, greater China still ended up with more gold than their masters.

Swimming is the way to go imo. Winning takes golds away from US and all it takes is one or two really genetically gifted individuals to dominate the field. Just bring a pool into every high school with swim teams like the US and you will see the gifted ones come out.

I agree 100%.

Swimming is just an incredibly good activity, you get really healthy swimming and I think more people should take it up even if they don't expect to ever compete in it. Plus, you learn a useful skill if you're ever out on the water or a lake or something. More people in general should just learn to swim.
