Right a Sturgeon is to 120/125 dB a litle better as a Victor III, about a Jin, 093 a little better

IF they could find the 093B first, don't be so sure that the US subs are so superior that Chinese subs are helpless.

Equation enormous what you say !!!

Quite sure especialy Seawolf and Virginia are not only clearly more quiet and in more USA since always have the best sonars and fire control systems, on dual 1 vs 1 to 90 % they win, still a small amount of uncertainty ofc.

I think it was posted after they had updated data on the noise level of 093 and 094s from trailing them. 094 is a larger submarine that was built after 093. It's entirely possible that it could be quieter than 093. But if you look at the chart, they are basically the same generation.

As for 093B, we will find out in a few years once the US SSNs spend enough time trailing them and feel the need to declassify.
For 094 the hull for host SLBM, same as SSBN Delta and same problem... do bad hydrodynamic mentionned noisy as a Delta III, the Delta IV is a little better.
More recent as 093 for construction a little... launched 1.5 year after... but bad design, shape.

Maybe a 5th 094, according US report, Chinese infos nothing as usualy ... ! right now 4 : 409 - 413.

There is a reason they are so eager to move to 095. They know 093B is an interim class and have a long way to go. If they could get to early LA class level of noise level, it would be considered success. But then again, we will see in a few years. USN was very open about how easy it was to track the Type 093s.

NOTE:
The 093 sub crossing the Malacca strait photo was taken by Indonesian navy, and published by HuanQiu.com. --- It was not published by the Free Beacon of the donald world.

1) Yes, usn and all the western pundits ALWAYS say --- how noisy are PLAN subs 091, 093, 094, and so on ... ...

2) In terms of nuclear subs and delivering PLA ICBM from the ocean depth to us continent, usn and all the western pundits ALWAYS want to smack down PLAN sub abilities to nothing.

3) Since, PLAN has very limited SSN ( only five 093 sub and five 094 sub at the most ), PLAN subs are easy to track number wise, only 10 subs. --- I am just curious --- how come USN / Japan navy / Indian navy / France navy / UK navy / aussie navy -- have never bombarded the western media with PLAN sub photos while these western warriors navies were tracking PLAN subs in the ocean or even in the Malacca strait ??

I am just really curious ... ...

I think this is an interior photo of a nuclear sub, but which type, I have no idea...

Two new 093B, 113 m long with propeller in dry dock, 11/11.5 m wide i have 093 to 103 m VLS about 10 m so worck for size.
Mainly no pump jet for noise as Hyperwarp thinking a LA Fl I/II what is already a very big improvement.
Definitely with these new all Han replaced and Navy go for have in 2019 8 SSN of 093 family before 5.

btw, i took this to google maps to look at and they both came out to be around 13 m wide and 105 to 106 m long, so this could already be a new submarine type.

Wouldn't be suprised if there was an upgrade name 094A similar to the 093A. This ship could be used for test components for a more advanced 094B.

I expect a future 096 to have a very different appearance. At least similar to the Borei with the large hump removed when view from the side..

Space within the hull is precious. Anything that can be left outside is left outside. Also, one more hole made in the hull is one more incident waiting to happen.

If by extendable you mean telescopic, then no, not really. The masts are typically one piece.

Nothing beats Mk. I eye balls when it comes to situation awareness.

Consider a situation of a non-calm sea state. It would be a bad idea to open a hatch so close to the water when waves are crashing onto the hull. Within the sail, there is another hatch, which is protected from the elements by the sail itself.

Stability. If you have not noticed already, many marine animals have a fin.

There isn't going to be an increase of structural integrity if one has to cut many holes on the hull to fit what previously resided in the sail.

Eng, Eng, Eng, you da man! good question Wolfie, but the Eng has it all figured out,,,, quick somebody ask him a question about women while he's on a roll???

I hope you're teaching somewhere Eng, it would be a tragedy to let all that wisdom go to waste, I hope you are at least having a 1/2 dozen kids or so??? LOL
