The Pentagon’s most recent report on Chinese military power, made public in October 2023, stated that two Shang III submarines were launched between May 2022 and January 2023 and that three submarines of the class could be operational by next year.
they are confirming that 093B will be operational by next year. That seems reasonable. At least that matches what we saw with original 093s.
They also claim that there are 6 093/A in service and I think we've settled on 2 093s + 5 093As.

We definitely don't need that news outlet to relay that information to us, or even the Pentagon to tell us that lol

I havent seen any compelling evidence suggesting more than six 09III/A are in service. The six 09III/A series claim by ONI has been around for a good bit now in reports, but I think it is at face value quite reasonable.

Google Earth satellite photo of Qingdao naval base has been updated, showing 2x 091 SSNs, 1x 093 SSN, 1x 093A SSN and 1x 094/A SSBN. Posted by @foolsball on Twitter, and credits to @para80 for the correction.

A little late to reply to this, but I didn't realize the Type 094s ever made their way north. I'd always heard they were based in the STC.
