IMO, the biggest problem with this line of thinking
- There is no official assurance that the mini nuke exists which means
- Confirming this story could blow someone's cover
This is the most sensitive program in the Chinese military, not something an open secret like WS-15 or J-31/35, so if you have an insider, letting the WSJ just leak this would be beyond terrible OpSec

Mini nuke is supposed to be built by Jiangnan, not Wuhan.

Looks like this shipyard is the Wuchang harbor who is in the middle of Wuhan who is in the middle of China, to my knowledge in that shipyard only make diesel electric Yuan Class submarines are built who are smaller than nuclear submarines, the type 39 submarines in this shallow harbor would have not be able to sunk completely you would see part of the submarines outside. Looks like more a dredging operation in the harbor because is a river and sedimentation is a big issue in this type of rivers.

The damn idiot say it in a tweet AND EVERYONE in the Western Garbage Media is quoting this STOOGE saying that a nuclear submarine sunk when China nuclear submarines probably built in shipyards close to the sea and not in the DAMN Yellow River, in the middle of China, because nuclear submarines are much bigger than normal submarines and they have a nuclear reactor something that you don't want to carry thousand of kilometers in a shallow fresh water river.

Yeah. The depth is only about 5-6 meters for from Wuhan to Wuhu

The submarine's conning tower at least would still be visible, unless somehow it tipped. Like even Indian Sindhurakshak which was also sunk pierside, the conning tower are still on surface, while the depth of Mumbai harbor is 15 m.
i think this is the best argument against any sub sinking there.

Even in yellow sea, you can't really operate on nuclear submarine there, because it's too shallow.

But it give an idea how things works in Western MSM coverage of China, if you don't do you research you are at the mercy of these news orgs misinformation, Tom didn't even have the decency and the ethics to clarify the interviewer that these shipyard don't produce nuclear submarines but diesel electric.
I am not an expert in submarine warfare, my area is more in semiconductors, so i have to look were this shipyard is, then when I found is in the middle of China where the Yellow River is about 3-5 meters then I have to look for the dimensions of a "type 93" sub because I couldn't find this new "Zhou" type submarine anywhere except in MSM. Then figure out that is almost impossible for nuclear sub to navigate so shallow river with missiles that are almost 10 meters in length. Then found a 2016 blog from guy saying the shipyard built diesel electric submarines. I think people who are getting paid should do their research before writing misinformation. In the case of China these stooge don't retract their articles or much less apologize. Like in the case of the FT article about China startup that trolls wanted push here.

I think people are just upset that people the likes is Shugart and Sutton, who have actual experience and should know better, keep on peddling nonsense.

It kind of makes sense given the idea of such events are probably something they hope happens or occurs, so they are a bit cognitively primed to think that way.

Neutrality or objectivity isn't necessarily a given.

The poor due diligence of much western reporting on Chinese matters is well known and longstsnding, my view is that it is quite well established and not controversial.
