moving armement factorys is one thing but shifting a ship building yard or naval base is another, docks and shipyards are built at strategic locations, often picked decades and centurys ago often for a very good reason, you can make another one but it will be years before it reaches a high production capacity, best solution is expanding if that cant be done then you need to increase efficiency and productivity by identifying where the bottlenecks are and introducing new advanced equipment
The people in these industries are intensily proud of their work and rightly so. that's including all defense industries including nuclear weapons.
so I think there is an element of showoffs involved.

Those are just supports to prevent the module from tipping over. Once the module is welded with others, the supports will be removed.
I kinda doubt if they want to show off everything, all the time. I think this kind of exposure was not anticipated and prevented when the shipyard was built. JNCX wouldn't have as much a problem as HP and HD. At some point, they will have to deal with this, either by building another modern shipyard in Guangzhou just like JNCX (maybe not as big) with less public access, or some other ways.

That's very childish thinking...first of all "showing off" doesn't help in their business as citizens aren't their client or generate business for them, but government do; designing the ships ain't at their level but those at the higher end of the food chain, at their end they're just contractors that being assigned the task to build what they are paid to build; so long as what they deliver is up to spec of the navy then their job - and subsequent contracts - are secured.
Then there's the location - if you'd take the time to see where HP shipyard is located, it was quite out of the way...why I said "was"? That's because Guangzhou city's rapid growth outpaced all expectation and now even at the opposite bank of the HP shipyard (where the pics are taken from) are build up as well. So save from a total lockdown of the island, there's next to impossible for people to take pics from there.
On top of that is China's penchant for secrecy...and that attracts seekers like bees to honey.

Cool, I think it's safe to say they are building hull #5 already. This is lightning fast. In the SCS arena, I would say Vietnam's Gepard class would be the closet competitor in size and class. Gepard seems better armed but 056 will be in large numbers.

Will the 056 OPVs be used in conjunction with packs of 022s as hunter-killer groups? Something like one 056 with light helicopter or UAV to feed targeting info to three or four 022s?
