Some guy's model or what?
Not only HK, but Shanghai and Hainan will get their type 056 in due time. So what if different fleets decides they will have their own customised 056 (depending on what they feel are their needs and budget allocation), based on a base model but with mods as necessary.
For example, to be based in Shanghai they might feel that they need a corvette similar to the one above, with longer anti-air weapons, more AshMs and also by the looks of it a proper hanger (since the potential opponents will be stronger), while HK feels tha4 the current 056 is enough for any threat that they might face from the south. Also, a slighter larger ship based in Shanghai might be useful for the occasional patrol to places like Diaoyu islands if the need arises.
Also it may be that cold launched weapon platform are cheaper(or at least the missile unit cost) than hot launched ones and will not be abandoned but re-sized and developed for lower end platforms.
Or maybe their are planning for export.
