Some new pics around the shipyard.

That hull to the left of the 2nd 056 does sorta look like another copy....but I'm not entirely sure. If it is, they are really cranking these guys out.

Not to mention, what vessel is that on the far left? Looks like it's got a naval grey on it too.

I'm not too sure either, it seems to have fin protrusion near the bottom-ish side of the hull and I kind of don't think the type 056 has that. I'm not sure.

The print says Yu Zheng 312.
Now there maybe 4 056s in various state of construction in HP now.
HP should expand soon, the construction halls are too jammed and seem primitive compared to their US, European, Japanese and Korean counterparts.

By the writing it is a fisheries boat.

Thanks, maybe the lighting is just playing tricks and that's more of a white than grey.

Yep, there are clear shots of the hull on a completed 056 in post #468 and another in-progress hull in post #511. Definitely not sporting the same fin extensions. This is rather exciting, are we already seeing a 056A? The modules in your other pics clearly suggest another 056 vessel.

Actually, I think we already know there are two launched into the water, one from HD, one from HP. Each shipyard also had a second hull in the works so a total of four being produced. The puzzling one is this current pic with the fins. If it's an 056 variant, that would make it the fifth hull. Perhaps the ASW version? :p

If you take a look at the areas surrounding the HuangPu shipyard, you'd see there's next to no room for it to expand - in fact, the Guangzhou city it located in is expanding rapidly, so relocation within the city is out of question; move it out of Guangzhou is equally out of question because of its economic effects (GDP to the city, for one, if you don't count the employment) to the city.

Counting those factors and then with so many orders on the line, it simply can't sit idle or reduce the production capacity for a year (at the very least) to conduct phased upgrade to modernize its infrastructures...unless such orders came from the very top, it'd hurt the bottomline of many parties.

Rather than expand or moving, they should build a brand new shipyard dedicated to naval ships, in a place where there is enough room, and move, and move the related personnel there.

Like I've said, if it could only be that simple...on top of what I've already said, even if to build a new shipyard, regardless of environmental impact that might bring to the Pearl River Delta region (disregard environmental impact of such scale can tarnish the career of many officials), it'll still take several years before the complex come online - but the explosive modernization / growth of the PLAN is within this decade.

That said, when the new shipyard comes online it'd be long past the apex of potential business, only a few fat years left to recoup the investments before the lean years come, and that leaves the shipyard under-utilized - worse if it dedicated to navy's business. Do I need to elaborate what kind of fiscal and political nightmares this'd be?

Actually HP possess one of the most efficient warship production system in the world, certainly more efficient than any other Chinese yards and just as advanced as JNCX. The construction process is fully modularized and the long assembly hall allows much shorter building berth time and higher level of completion at launch. This particular assembly hall is essentially dedicated to government contracts, vast majority of its products are warships and lawenforcement/rescue vessels. On top of that, its location provides excellent viewing opportunity for military fans.
