Nice one Jeff

One thing I don't get with the rear helo deck of the Type 071 LPD is the dead space between the front and back helicopters the buffer zone which is the waste of space between the two landing zones

It's not large enough to handle a Z8 it's not small enough to move into and serves no purpose

Open deck space on a ship is very valuable piece of real estate I don't know why PLAN is wasting it like that for no purpose

Having said that I believe in a zig zag formation we can fit 2 x Z8 and 2 x Z9 helicopters

It is just clearance space. There is clearance space in front of the forward helicopter landing site too. San Antonio also has clearance space between its two helicopter landing sites.

Then why not make that clearance space usable so that either they can load only 2 x Z8 or 4 x Z8 but with Type 071 LPD it's a awkward size neither 2 nor 4 looks like it can take 3 x Z8?!

San Antonio can take 4 x CH-46 simultaneously that means with rotors running

It will only be a rare occasions that 071 will operate many helicopters like that anyway. PLAN don't have enough Z-8s to go around. So having relatively spaced out deck markings for helicopters makes sense.
But even once they have enough helicopters to operate multiple (i.e. more than four) on 071, that doesn't mean they have to follow the deck markings. The markings are there as a guide, they're not physical constraints.

The Z-8s rotor clearance is too much to have anything but what they show...two spaces offset.

On the San Antonio, they have tow spaces lined up for the Osprey or for a CH-53. For them, spaces 1 and 2 are the ones they have to use.

But the San Antonio also marks its decks for other landing configurations, You can see spaces 3, 4, 5, and 6, for landing four smaller (less clearance required) helicopters as well...like the Chinooks you show.

I'm sure they could mark the Type 071 flight deck fo landing four Z-9s simultaneously if they wanted.

But this entire discussion is off topic for the Type 056 thread. If you want to talk more about it, take it to the Type 071 thread, or the Large Amphibious Vessel thread on the Would Military Forum.

Anyone think they may have mixed the content of the box launchers for ASW operations? Maybe two ASMs for defense and two CY-1s to increase ASW capability?

Key Points
•China has inducted its first Type 056 Jingdao-class platform dedicated primarily to submarine prosecution
•At least four of the class could be fitted with towed array variable-depth sonar systems

The People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) has commissioned its 18th Type 056 (Jiangdao)-class missile corvette, a vessel reported to be the class's first dedicated anti-submarine warfare (ASW) variant (designation Type 056A). A PLA-linked media report on 11 November said that the vessel, named Zhuzhou (pennant number 594), has been inducted into the South Sea fleet.

An IHS Jane's report in August 2014 suggested that the PLAN is equipping at least four of the class with towed array variable-depth sonar (VDS) systems.

Type 056A boat No 593 'Sanmenxia' is commissioned on the 13/11/14.

That's now 17 type 056's in the fleet.............and another 056 boat No 595 should also join the fleet by the end of the year.
