But they do.Interesting....I've never seen it opened up and with RHIB being deployed. I always thought they were some sort of vent.
Now, let's leave the off-topic Se Jong the Great discussion and get back on topic to the Type 055.

A nice cg, by the same guy who did them a while ago, but obviously tailored a little to the newer photos.
I think this CGI is the most accurate of what the actual thing will end up looking like, however I expect/hope there to be 64 tubes on the bow, 055 certainly shouldn't be lacking space for it, considering we know the distance between the main gun and ciws is a deal greater than that on 052D, along with the expectation of 055 to have a meaningfully greater beam than 052D.
I also wonder if the "layer" below the front superstructure is actually going to be part of the final ship. It doesn't look continuous with the rest of the superstructure, and those windows look awfully out of place.
if i remember corrctly, us destoryers carry one asw helicopter as a norm. one mh60s and one mh60r, the latter being the asw variant. entire usn seahawk fleet shows that as well, as the ratio of asw helos and non-asw helos is roughly 1:1.
Yes...but numbers of the SAR, ASuW, Cargo MH60S are carried on vessels that use them for those purposes.if i remember corrctly, us destoryers carry one asw helicopter as a norm. one mh60s and one mh60r, the latter being the asw variant. entire usn seahawk fleet shows that as well, as the ratio of asw helos and non-asw helos is roughly 1:1.
No entirely true. The Spruance class destroyers can carry 2 helos same with the Ticos. Even the old Kidd class DDGs can carry two helos. The Flt IIA Burkes have hanger for 2 LAMPS. The Flt 1 and II have a flight deck and facilities for helos as well but no internal hanger .
Yes...and that is sometimes true. But it would be a mischaracterization to think that the US Navy does not carry two Romeos on the Burke IIAs, the Ticos, or the Perrys. When they are on ASW escort duties, they most certainly do.He is not saying that USN surface combatants only carry one helicopter, rather that they carry two Seahawks, but only one of them is the designated ASW version, while the other is the none ASW version.
A nice CGI of an 055 "launch"
I haven't found anymore pictures by whoever did it, but I can't imagine this is a one off.
It's a spoiler. The author mentioned that more is to come.
