LOL the L/B doesn't appear to be what I'd expect Jul 15, 2017According to the poster, this is a satellite photo of 055 undergoing her first trial...

the difference would be the length-to-beam ratio, when rounded to integers, "approaching" 8:1 or 9:1
just saying
Flipped 055 vertically to get the same perspective (the original sat photo had the ships on opposite headings), and rotated 055 2,1 degrees to match 052 a little more.
in the morning that vessel seemed very beamy to me, but she might not be (now I pressed 'Click this image to show the full-size version.')it's too vague to guess what it's actual l/b can be.
That said I think it is clear enough to be unable to rule out the possibility that its l/b is that of the 055. So an interesting photo but nothing to get worked up over.
Yes, this setup has been my working assumption. The intakes/downtakes for the generators could actually be those dark squares on the platform level just above the RHIB garages. Also, I thought I read somewhere that the generators were gas turbine rather than diesel.
could it be that blue areas are intake areas and red ones are exhaust areas? Sure seems like a logical arrangement to me. And generator intakes would then be positioned somewhere very near the turbine intakes. Might be pretty hard to actually spot them, though by some logic diesel exhausts should be just after the intakes, not more than a few meters, if that.
