This could be an old question, but wouldn't the main gun block the line of fire of the 1130 CIWS should there be an incoming missile at 12 o'clock? I doubted that the 130mm main gun has ABM capabilities.

I'm sure the ship will have enough warning to change angle so that chaff etc can be deployed, and the incoming missile can intercepted by hhq 10 if its at that short a range as to be engaged by ciws point defense.

ABM? You don’t use ciws for ABM lol ... as to the line of sight that’s now how ciws work. They traverse up and build a lead wall if you will for max range. Also the odds of a missiles coming in directly straight at 12 o’clock to the ship’s heading is almost nil.

1130 doesn't have ABM capabilities either. As for subsonic and supersonic anti-ship missiles (sea skimmers) approaching from 12 o'clock, I think there is time to turn the the ship to give 1130 a direct line-of-sight, and the HHQ-10 might come into play before 1130.

Also the radar and EO sensors on the 1130 are not blocked by the main gun housing, so depending on the distance to target the 1130 could probably still fire directly ahead without turning the ship, since the 1130 gun barrel itself would have to be inclined upwards somewhat during firing unless we're talking point blank range.

The 1130 bullet's parabolic trajectory (in red) is obviously exaggerated but the concept should be easy to grasp.

CIWS is a last ditch weapon.
It is configured to shoot through its own ship equipment in wartime if neccesairy to safe the ship
In not saying what ship or weapon of obvious reasons.
But i have seen a anglechart of a ciws we use, it would even shoot through radars and the main mast with sensors and radars during wartime.
