Empty or full? Given the fitted Type 055 is that much above the waterline compared to the 052D next to it, the load it can carry compared to the 052D is much greater, maybe as much as three times more.
He says the full displacement is 11 tonnes and the empty displacement is 9 tonnes. Might be worth mentioning that there has been some debate in this forum before about whether full displacement is the same as “max” displacement that I won’t get into here.

He might also need to clarify if he is weighing it in short or long tons.

Maybe we should put it in some context. I just took the figures off from Wikipedia as it is convenient.

Tons in Full Displacement. Short tons for ABs and Ticos and possibly for the rest except the Type 45.

Type 052D - 7,500 tons
AB Flight I - 8,184 tons
AB Flight II - 8,300 tons
AB Flight IIa - 9,100 tons
AB Flight III - 9,600 tons
Tico - 9,600 tons
Type 45 - 8,400 long tons
Atago class - 10,000 tons
Kongo class - 9,500 tons
Sejong the Great - 11,000 tons

"Fake news" CNN has finally made an article on the Type 055 as the ships launching are being picked up by the mass media. The article gives me a o_O feeling.
