I am begining to think Blitzo is right, that this thing will certainly be in the 12000 tonne and above weight class. Look at the size of the bow in comparison to the two 052D which is closer to the camera,I for one will be very disappointed if it carries only 96 to 112 VLS tubes as reported.

Oh give me a break, based only on what we can see with the products and coordination of long term projects, the Chinese Navy are very forward planning and their associated infrastructure facilitates that.
The roof is obviously one that is temporary, probably for basic weather protection at most, possibly to make it more difficult for satellites to observe it.
A better question is to ask what is so important about having a roof cover to begin with. Not that much, really.
