By the way, I was so unsurprised to see pennant number 538 on Hull 9 that I did not register that this is the first time we see it.

There have been several of these built at Huangpu. To me it looks like an oil rig supply ship (like the one in the second photo of post # 893) , but Huangpu normally only builds ships for Government service.

The most recent image of the 5th 054A from HD shipyard. They have removed the scaffolding that was still on the mast just a few days ago. This should be ready to be launched soon. HD ships seem to get launched in less fitted form than HP ones. It is going to be interested to see where HD or HP launches the next 054A.

549 Changzhou in a Mud River

That picture ought to be from Zhoushan-Dinghai naval base, though I must admit that I cannot find any pier off such a muddy beach on GE.

Strange that it does wear pennant number 549, though it must be commissioned now, in view of the flags all over (Sealordlawrence: what is the correct RN term for this, I think it is something with bunting?).

Bunting would cover it, we often see chinese ships covered in it around the time of their commissioning, though I sometimes wonder whether in a lot of cases it is a manufacturing thing rather than a PLAN thing.
