these pictures are a little hard to see, since they are taken with probably cell phone cams from far out, but you can see the 6th HP 054A inside the right dock and 5th one outside still. The 6th one actually don't look that far from getting launched.

In addition, it is said that 054A+ the latest additional 4 orders (estimated to have improved, anti-ship missiles may be changed to Eagles type 62, belonging to the 054A++ type), should equipment drive 9 detachment of the South China Sea fleet, namely:

HP No. 574, construction of the South China Sea fleet
HD build No. 575, the South China Sea fleet
Estimated maximum approaching the end of 2012, the Chinese Navy has at least 18 054 series new frigates. Forecast they served in the three fleets and the destroyer detachment:
North Sea fleet: 2
1st Destroyer detachment 538, No. 550
The East China Sea fleet: 8
3rd Destroyer detachment, 525, 526, No. 530
6th Destroyer detachment, 546, 547, 548, No. 549
The South China Sea fleet: 8
2nd Destroyer detachment:, 568, 569, 570,
9th Destroyer detachment, 572, 573, 574, No. 575
Also, No. 571, "yuncheng" of the ship name, it should be belonging to the North Sea fleet, now is in South China Sea fleet service, therefore, does not exclude situations that 570, and 571 ships may will return them to the North Sea fleet of 1st Destroyer detachment, thus the East China Sea fleet has 8 ship (which two ship for 054 type), and the South China Sea fleet has 6 ship (which 4 ship for 054 series of ultimate improved type), and the North Sea fleet has 4 ship of equipment pattern.

I think that 549 CHANGZHOU is not actually in a new ESF base, but back at Hudong. If you look at the latest GE update of Hudong (31 16 23 N 121 33 50 E), which is dated 25 January 2010, you will see that 549is now lying precisely where the Type 815G intelligence ship 853 TIANWANGXING was lying then.

franco-russe,

Agreed, looking at GE, that last picture of 549 shows her at HD. If you go back to December 06 you can see 998 and an 054A under construction in the middle of the three big dry docks.

if China is making so many ships do they have a Z9C and Z8 production line to for helos to go with these ships?

when Pakistan navy took F22P frigates they also got with them 6 Z9C helos, extra to cover if one is down, so I am guessing that if China deploys 12 frigates they would need around 18 Z9C to put on them?

It is quite true that PLAN has too few helicopters. My information is that 6 Avn Regt (NSF) has 12 Z-9 and 7 Avn Regt (SSF) has 11 Z-9. Most of those being produced seem to go to Army Aviation.

Looks like they are going for a 7th (Or I wonder if that could be the eigth sections while the 7th is already further along away from view)

Thus suitably flattered, I must suggest hat the hull sections are for Hull 12, while those about to be launched at both Huangpu and Hudong are Hulls 10 and 11.

I was struggling to remember precisely how we came to the conclusion that we had 12 units, thanks for the response, I need to go back through this thread and look over some our previous discussions.
