Canister launchers lack the ability to launch in any direction. You have to point it at ship to shoot it. That's why it's inefficient.

For long range antiship missiles it does not matter where its pointed at, since the missile will simply turn to the direction of the target.

Is this new? It looks suspiciously like the joint drill with the Brazilian navy in 2013, if my visual memory serves me correctly.

EDIT: I found the original footage. It's indeed from a maneuver with the Brazilian navy 7 years ago.
