Canister launchers are really bad for RCS. Even Russia's Karakurt class corvettes that don't even weight 1000 tons don't have canister launchers.
NSMs. Pretty advanced antiship missile. Stealthy, littoral capable and jam resistant because it has an imaging IR seeker.
Yes it is, especially when its not covered on the sides like that, like you see with the Tuo Chiang class missile corvettes.
What struck me is the poor condition of the Giffords in general. I am not sure what's happening to these ships.
I am not sure if the 054B won't have canister launchers, and saying so would be supposition and speculation at this point, even it makes sense not to have one. I would think the greater motivator of the 054B using VLS to launch antiship missiles is when it is decided that the class would use YJ-18 for its antiship missiles instead of YJ-83 or YJ-12.
You can conceal canister launchers to reduce RCS. See below on the Tuo Chiang. Also like frigates of the Iver Huitfeldt class.
