I don't think that's recent or right. I saw a picture of the 7th 054A from HP last night and it was still sitting in this place looking a couple of months away from being ready to be launched. And I also have a picture a week ago showing the same. This picture should be from a while back. Here are what they looked like in the 2 most recent photos.

Thank you Tphaung.

No doubt an 8th will be built, but it seemed quick to have it there and that far along already.

Guess we will keep an eye on it.

On another topic, what is the status of the new Type 052C builds? If you have new info, please post on that thread and I will find it. Has the 4th been launched yet?

I got a couple of more pictures today and they look exactly the same. The 6th 054A from HP is still parked outside and the 7th hasn't changed (hard to expect changes in 3 days). As for 052C, the 4th one is definitely launched. I think there have been pictures of the 3rd and 4th next to other. The 3rd one is supposed to go on sea trials this month and the 5th one may be ready to be launched too. The 3rd and 4th should both be going to ESF.

With all these new ships launched, has anyone kept an eye on the Ludas and Jianghus? I would imagine PLAN would be retiring them en mass as well.

I don't see it -- 2 ships a year is enough only for a 25 year ship replacement cycle.
