I double HP 6 would be named Siping, a northern town.

Latest discussion in HSH forum confirmed that HD 5 named Yancheng and would join NSF. Together with 538 Yantai, that would be all 054A NSF shall take.

HP 6, probably 550, will join ESF.

Thanks for the info, which is good to bear in mind, and makes some sense. PLAN ship names are only certain when the ships have been commissioned (and even then... Jane’s still has got some of them wrong, for example).

The name SIPING for 550, which was indeed expected to go to NSF, was provided by the list in # 848.

If what you are saying is correct, then there would still be parallel deliveries from HP and HD, with the former delivering HP 5 538 YANTAI and the latter HD 5 550 (?) YANCHENG. That these two will be the only ones for NSF corresponds to the majority of reports. This will implicitly mean that the last six will be 546 and 547 (HP 6 and HD 6?) for ESF and 572-575 (HP 7-8 and HD 7-8?) for SSF.

To add to the confusion, the list published in post # 694 suggested that 570 and 571, which have “northern names”, might eventually be transferred from SSF to NSF. Actually, Huangshan (570) is in Anhui, which would be an “eastern name”, while Yunchang (571) is in Shanxi, i.e. a clearly “northern name”.

The Type 054B is reported to enter construction after the 12th Type 054A is launched.

The Type 054B will put more emphasis on the role of frigates.

The Type 054A has decent anti submarine defenses in the form of Yu-7 torpedoes. The Type 054B might also use the same torpedoes or maybe the ET-52 as well.

This says 054A is 134 m long, 15.2 m wide and 3647 ton in standard displacement. If you remember from before, the maximum displacement is around 4053 ton. It's maximum speed is 27 knots and has 15 days of duration.

Pakistan navy is due to retire a total of 6 ex-British Amazon class frigates by 2020, the need for a new advanced surface vessal which will provide air defence umbrella is vital for PN, especially after induction of expensive new frigates such as the F22P and Turkish MRTP-33 missile boats (which could have been Type 056 Corvettes had they been available)

I think PN should go for between 2-3 Type054A+ frigates with Z9 or Z15 for its navy and also order atleast 2 more F22Ps bringing the total to 6 ships, I am sure 2-3 of these ships can built by China and delivered within next 3-5 years, PN has also ordered two 500ton missle boats from China

Are you talking about multi-functional radar? Because SPY-1D is PESA and that still has all the functions you would need. And I see no reason next iteration of type 054 needing a MFR unless they are trying to turn it into a AAW frigate.

I highly doubt 27 knots lasting 15 days, you don't cruise on 27 knots that will consume too much fuel. 15 days is most likely cruising speed ~20 knots. 15 days is what about 6000-8000km depending on speed. That's inline with most frigates in service at the moment. So it's about right.
