HP shipyard is really interesting right now. There is a bunch of modules lying around in what seems to be complete mess due to its limited space. And it's really hard to tell what modules are for which ship and how many ships they are intending to build. I'm personally kind of excited by it.

A superficial glance at the components at Huangpu suggests they are for a 054A, but less complete than those seen there before. I would guess that the latter are already being assembled in one the building halls to form HP 7, so those outside would be for HP 8 (the last we have heard about – so far).

By the way, beautiful photos of the 20 May launching – but why no flags?

I heard that a new variant, called the Type 054B, is being developed.

It's supposed to enter construction after the 12th Type 054A is launched.

Does anybody have any further information?

well, we finally see the 6th unit of 054A from HD shipyard. This is still in the earlier stages, so I'd be interested to see whether the 7th 054A from HP shipyard gets launched first or this ship.

Not too bad, really, as Hudong is also busy with 071 Hull 3.

But as Hudong is running almost a year behind Huangpu, the bets would be on the latter. This is also what was said in # 848, which can be updated with the two recent launches:

12 (HP 7) 572

Has 071 hull 3 actually been confirmed yet? Whilst we have seen pictures of a hull section that could be for such a vessel there was certainly some doubt about that?

There has been some recent photography which seems to be incontroversibly 071 – the “stealth shaped” side is a clear give-away. This appears to be the midship section, about where the funnels (and consequently the engines) will be. But the matter will only be quite clear when e.g. the hangar and helodeck appears.

Pakistan navy is due to retire a total of 6 ex-British Amazon class frigates by 2020, the need for a new advanced surface vessal which will provide air defence umbrella is vital for PN, especially after induction of expensive new frigates such as the F22P and Turkish MRTP-33 missile boats (which could have been Type 056 Corvettes had they been available)

I think PN should go for between 2-3 Type054A+ frigates with Z9 or Z15 for its navy and also order atleast 2 more F22Ps bringing the total to 6 ships, I am sure 2-3 of these ships can built by China and delivered within next 3-5 years, PN has also ordered two 500ton missle boats from China

I double HP 6 would be named Siping, a northern town.

Latest discussion in HSH forum confirmed that HD 5 named Yancheng and would join NSF. Together with 538 Yantai, that would be all 054A NSF shall take.

HP 6, probably 550, will join ESF.
