Any update on how many are being built?
If we look to the coast guard variants for the Type-054, they're supposed to have the same combat management systems as the Navy version. So they could be upgraded relatively easily and quickly.

If we look to the coast guard variants for the Type-054, they're supposed to have the same combat management systems as the Navy version. So they could be upgraded relatively easily and quickly.
They are not passing on any 052Ds. They are building new CCG cutters using the 052D hull form. There is a very big difference between those.
The 052D-mod cutter has been launched no later than today. Satellite imageries posted by @foolsball on Twitter.

I thought 052D had poor build quality? Very bold of them to do this test. Hopefully they have foreign sailors on standby in case they need to perform damage control.

That’s impossible because we all know there are no water tight doors on any Chinese warships.
This should be good for publicity. I would say the DE was very prospective for export.
