Re: DDG 052C Thread

I got some pictures of 170 and they showed details of many parts of the ship, including the decoy launchers, a YJ-62 launcher tube, Type 730, the volume search radar + SR-64

Why is the missile canister green? Maybe testing a new type of missile? A ground attack cruise missile that will be used by both the navy and second artillery?

Probably not. yj-62 might still need some testing. They only put one up cause they will probably take it off and put others frequently while testing, so they didnt even bother with painting it the proper color.

Re: DDG 052C Thread

No, it does look like it's camouflage. Also, a new lid with three vertical ribs. Compare to previous tubes with completely flat ends....

Odd. I don't think anything can be deduced, but curious all the same.

Actually my guess is that this is the new camouflage one is the real article because at least it has hinges for the armoured lid - the previous grey ones being mock-ups/training tubes/weight replicators for sea trials. Akin the the Plan's fake helicopters for hanger/deck tests.

And you all know the reason why it has green camouflage, and that's because it is also to be fired from land by trucks. The missile is probably from a land unit and is being tested on the ship.

Re: DDG 052C Thread

I got more pictures of 052C, this time that lone yj-62 tube is still covered, but the other tubes are also loaded.

Re: DDG 052C Thread

japanese , USN and european naval commentator claim that 052C PAR insufficient high enough, this created blind spot when attempt to track and detecting sea skeaming missiles.
If you look at AEGIS or AEGIS clone alway mounted very high, this allowed better detection of low flying target.
this could be reason to date only 2 were build.
P>S. the 052C PAR (sea Lion)operate in C-band frequency.rather than L-band operate by AEGIS.

see, I'm not sure about that. The idea 052C's radar operates on C-band comes from the kvant radar and there is no indication 14th institute actually just copied it. As for the positioning, it's no lower than SPY-1D. Besides, SR-64 is the one that's suppose to track sea-skimmers and it's basically at the highest position.
