I won't put any attention to somebody talking about "respect" in geopolitics.

Nowadays, there are lots of people making voices about anything. First of all, who is the person being quoted? Secondly, which PLA is unhappy? Thirdly, if (and I believe) PLA knew their job (beat the enemy by raw force) they would not give a dime to enemy's "respect".

What is "respect" in situation of life and death anyway? Killing by stabbing the back, poisoning or head-chopping are all equal and effective means. There is no need to be respected, nor anybody to respect.

We are officially not at war with America. There is supposed to be boundaries between sovereign states, that's what makes a civilized world community.

Respect is in the diplomacy domain during peace time. It should not be a concern of the military who should only plan what to do in a war. My point was about the SCMP article about PLA's "feeling disrespected".

What I am more concerned is that Pelosi sneak in and out of Taiwan on a regular civilian airline undeclared, only publish the "visit" after she has left. That makes it almost impossible for China to act. The U.S. has done so many times recently, such as a destroyer wondering around in SCS close to Chinese islands and make a dash through territorial water after calculating that PLAN ships too far to intercept. Then US can claim the "win".
