The US is use to one-sided scolding. The fact that Blinken and Sullivan called back the media after opening statements showed how shocked they were at the change in tactics by China which is the same tactics the US uses all the time. I see on the news the spin that China was playing to a domestic audience. Definitely the Biden Administration is handing out the talking points which means giving their spin because they know they looked bad. And Michael Bloomberg when running for President was chastised for saying that even in China the government is ultimately accountable to the people. He was hammered from both Republicans and Democrats because they argue in a dictatorship they don't care how their citizens feel. Now they're arguing Bloomberg's point for themselves here. And US politicians aren't playing to a domestic audience 100% of the time especially for Republicans ready to pounce on ever error in the Biden Administration? The reason why Blinken and Sullivan called back the media because as is it made the US look bad if they didn't respond.
I mean although meaningless, the opening statements show what is really happening.
You could almost see the desperation on Blinken's face. Not a good start from Blinken, who is negotiating from a "position of strength" (Lmao)
Yang truly fired on US corpse on that monologue. He called them weak, he basically called their Democratic system a failure, he pointed racism, and then he said to them that the US and the western world doesn't represent the UN (big big statement here for a multipolar world).
He was basically slapping them for 16 minutes straight.
I mean China dared to enter the Korean war when they were dirt poor to fight the US for their interests. Why do the US thinks that China now being infinitely stronger than that period, will back down from facing the US again...
In their dreams I say. This is why Mao, and Deng built China as it is now. Now it is Xi's responsibility to navigate this dangerous path in order for China to become a true world class Great Power. The US better understand this, because there is no way Xi is backing down.
