Does anyone know if Dylan Patel is an actual expert on semiconductors? I hear his name a lot but I can't find any information on his technical background.

Read the actual article, it was more interesting than the headline. The chief designer of BAIC saying the product cycles are much shorter. Talking about trends in Chinese auto design which is focusing on interior features (this is true, from my own research look at all the Chinese auto companies which licensed Dolby Atmos decoding). Western car design cycles used to plan around 10 years, but shortened to 6 years recently.
In any case, exterior design of cars are somewhat homogenous. Similar to fighter jets, they are dictated by physical constraints. Everyone is using CAD and wind tunnels to optimize for range/fuel economy vs. cargo space.

They will work with whoever is in power. China was never really picky about who they worked with anyway. Syria is hardly relevant for China in the geopolitical or economic scene.
