This is the reason I advocate for confiscation of all Anglo held lands. Nothing less than Chinese induction of the Australia and North American continent into the PRC will suffice. Such arrogant assumptions demand actual tangible territorial losses.
Why take on the burden of administering large swathes of foreign lands? If you do to them even half of what they and their forefathers have done to the world - sow divisions - then you won't need to confiscate their land. They are already so fractured. Pit the Mexicans, Afros, and rednecks against each other; Republicans against Democrats; Irish and Italian Catholics against Germanic Protestants; new age cults and hipsters against the traditional; the list is endless.

It's not necessarily that US is tackling corruption. It may be that by this move, US now has some leverage over India.
I mean Taiwan isn't the end all and be all of the Indo-Pacific, for both sides obviously. If the PRC only reunites with Taiwan and doesn't kick the Americans out of West Pacific, then I think most Chinese would agree it is a huge disappointment.
China should just build a narrow strip of artificial islands around Taiwan and connect them together like a ring.
