In that case congrats to Sino-Pak for another milestone!

Although I would wait for some confirmation the Z-10 is the perfect choice for Pakistan army and only China can provided such a unit with support due to the all weather friendship

It would be fantastic if Pakistan can establish a ToT for local assembly like we we doing with JF-17 to eventfully field a few aviation squadrons of attack helicopters

As China rises it's friends next door also benefit ;)

While I think it would be great if China would do ToT of WZ-10 to Pakistan, but the real question is is there a NEED for a large number of WZ-10 in Pakistan? From what I understand - Pakistan's border with India are all very mountainous and very high altitude (such as Kashmir) - basically unsuitable for tank battle, which in turn means WZ-10 (or any attack helicopter's)'s usefulness is doubtful.

WZ-10 may be great against the insurgent attacks in the Waziristan region, but I don't think Pakistan need more than 2 squadrons of WZ-10 for this type of operation against the terrorists. And to set up factories just to produce 2 squadrons of it sounds expensive and unnecessary.

What I think Pakistan need is actually transport helicopters - especially high altitude heavy transport helicopters where it can transport large number of troops to the frontline (like Kashmir) or anywhere quickly.

As time goes on China is doing more and more excercises with Z-10 over the sea

So no question that they are looking at a naval version of Z-10

They are probably testing equipment, avionics and radar coverage over sea

Addition of flotation devices, new anti corrosive paint, and more aids for landing are a must for naval Z-10

Check it out !!

We have seen Z-10 flying over LST now I hope to see Z-10 on Type 071 LPD and soon the new LHD/LHA

LOL, I am still wondering what's the usefulness of WZ-10 or any type of attack helicopter in sea? Do they expect tanks in sea? :D Only UK has deploy Apaches on their ship (for whatever the reason I still don't understand). The US MARINE deploys Super Cobra only as on-shore close support.

It would act as a offensive strike platform

This includes escort for amphibious assault craft, anti-shipping strike, Combat Air Patrol (CAP) , Over the Horizon (OTH) targeting for surface ships, air support for special warfare teams, standoff surveillance, and long range coastal patrol

A MEU land forces on shore and beeches and before you do that you need close air support from rotary wing aircraft that's where Z-10 really comes into play

You cannot operate a amphibious ready group without attack helos

In your mind, what is the difference between the USMC deploying supercobras and Vipers from ships at sea and the PLA seeking to deploy Z-10s from ships at sea?

They're all attack helicopters. And it isn't a matter of weight either because AH-1Z is actually heavier than Z-10z

So are you implying the PLA should develop an AH-1 type helicopter to navalize even though they have a perfectly good design to begin with?

Or do you think that the Z-10s in the photo are actually trying to find targets at sea to engage? Because I think most people would assume the Z-10s are merely transmitting over water to reach their mission area instead.

And France operates tigers from their mistrals too...

Any skirmish on Kashmir has a very high chance to spill out as full fledged war, there is over 1K mile long border ripe for tank battles. Pak Army needs about 40-80 Attack helos, now add the insurgency and the need may go up to 100+ units. So a force of 60 low count to 100+ high count is not a bad force to be built at home.

I knew it that cargo plane I mentioned which landed in Pakistan last week was carrying these units !!! Wow just wow

And before anyone says those pictures are from China it's NOT that's Qasim base !!!!

Finally we have Z-10 in Pakistan

In 1965 China gifted Pakistan F6 fighters it's the best they had today in 2015 they gifted modern attack helicopters

Administrator add hash tag for Pak and China flag because this is the time to fly them !!!!

Btw they look to be under fitting and final assembly no chin gun etc

China and Pak team on the ground will use two for testing and retain one for evolution purpose

And it's flying time to combat zone is measured in minutes which means we will test these in combat zone and produced plenty of data for analysis which will allow for further modification to the unit

Eventually once we have custom specific attack helicopter we can then order more numbers

This will also benefit China seeing their helo operate in a war zone

This is going to be very interesting !!!
