Characteristics I am thinking thermal and detection.
to clarify I don't think this is any more real then you do. I am simply stating why they would want one.

I don't know what to make of this story. A full sized AH-64D Apache has been sighted in China. Is this a mockup, copy or the one shotdown in Iraq as the article suggest ?

A U.S. Apache attack helicopter appears in China. Did they clone it?[/url]
I believe it is most probably what it appears. A US Apache Helicopter.

I do not believe it is a clone or a copy. I believe the Chinese go ahold of one somewhere, somehow. Either from Afghanistan, Iraq, or some other place and were able to get is sent to China and now they have it and are going to go through it with a fine tooth comb to glean whatever they can from it.

Clearly, the US would do the same thing if somehow, for example, they could get ahold of a J-20. Not very likely of course, but just saying.

My friend, people's Cold War mentality is not going to fate away.

The US has in the past and continues to sample foreign hardware. Especially Russian but I don't think this is such a case. If a intact army apache were to go down in a location behind hostile lines the air force would bomb it into powder. If it was accessible by ground forces Us Forces would have demo'ed. If it went down behind friendly lines it would have been recovered.
If it was recovered by the Chinese government they would have kept it under wraps for about half a decade. As they worked to find its goodies. My bet is model.
now the Chinese would want to learn all its secrets after all just knowing the specs is not knowing your enemy. And Apache longbow is in Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Indian and Taiwanese service.

The Tail is a straight line, On the Real deal Apache the tail fin bulges, And the Faring on the forward edge looks to small on the Chinese unit. well the Tail overall looks to long

The Pilots FLIR unit looks wrong to that's the smaller unit mounted over the ball turret on the nose. The real deal is slab sided the unit shown on the Chinese unit is rounded.

For those who think the model is accurate please do a comparison with this real one to see how ACCURATE it is, let alone it's anything real.
