I think scrapping the 877s is a good decision. They are not silent enough for torpedo attacks and they lack anti-ship missile (ASCM) capability. And unlike the 035s (which possess ASCM capability in some hulls) they are a foreign design, which makes maintenance and logistics harder.Found this on my Twitter today. Kilo Class !Long time ago, China bought loads of decommissioned Kilos and other submarines from Russia for scrapping.
Quite a few decommissioned Russian Kilo class were indeed went to China to be scrapped.
