Had Mr. Brown been white, and officer Wilson black, I can assure you that all you would feel is "relief" that a violent criminal had been taken off the street after assaulting a fine police officer, I would feel the same. Since Mr. Brown was black and officer Wilson was white, you have "painted" Mr. Brown as a victim, rather than the assailant of officer Wilson, officer Wilson was severely beaten about the head and face by Mr. Brown, in fact his eye-socket was fractured as Mr. Brown attempted to take a police officers weapon, what would Mr. Brown have done to officer Wilson if he had in fact dis-armed officer Wilson, we would have had a "cop-killing" that's what. My source is local news media, who tell it like it is, and have to live here, they have a reputation as journalists, and had the story been as you stated it was, that is what they would have reported, there is such a thing as truth! Honest mean tell it, and dis-honest men cover it up?

Here's a story of a black police officer shooting a white man in Utah to prove your point. Salt Lake City officials said the shooting was justified, and other than protests of the deceased's friends and family, residents accept the outcome. There's a distinct lack of violence, riots, mass looting, and race baiters.

Dillon Taylor was not armed when a Salt Lake City police officer shot him to death outside a convenience store.

But in that moment on Aug. 11, Officer Bron Cruz had good reason to think Taylor was pulling a gun out of his pants, Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill ruled on Tuesday.

Taylor, 20, and the two men he was with matched the descriptions of a 911 caller who said three men had "flashed" a gun. And Cruz saw them "making a scene" on their way to the 7-Eleven near 2100 S. State Street.

Confronted by officers, the two men with Taylor held up their hands, while Taylor alone was "noncompliant."

Body-cam video shows that Taylor turned toward officers with his hands in his pants before hoisting his shirt — a gesture officers are trained to recognize as a possible weapon-draw.

"Nothing that Mr. Taylor did assisted in de-escalating the situation," Gill said. "If anything, it escalated things."

Taylor’s shooting was justified, Gill said, not because he posed an actual threat, but because Cruz reasonably perceived a threat.

"Officer Cruz’s belief that Dillon Taylor was armed with a gun and intended to use it against the officers was reinforced by Dillon’s actions and the acts of others," Gill wrote in a letter to Salt Lake City Police Chief Chris Burbank. "By the time Dillon drew his hands from his waistband, Officer Cruz’s belief that Dillon was presenting a weapon [and ... would use the weapon against officers] was reasonable."

Kim Jong-un: North Korea leader 'appears in public'
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has made his first public appearance since 3 September, the country's official news agency says.
The KCNA agency said on Tuesday that Mr Kim "gave field guidance" at a newly built scientists' residential district.
Rodong Sinmun daily newspaper carried several photographs of Mr Kim using a walking stick as he inspected the site.
The absence of the 32-year-old leader has prompted a flurry of speculation about his health.
Some have even questioned if he remains in control of the secretive communist state.
Official media have cited unspecified personal "discomfort" as grounds for Mr Kim's absence from public view.
On Sunday, North Korea's ambassador to London told the BBC that Mr Kim was in good health.
The desire of state-run media to end speculation about Mr Kim also indicates he hasn't been the victim of a coup, says the BBC's Steve Evans in the South Korean capital Seoul.
KCNA said that Mr Kim was briefed on the Wisong Scientists Residential District "before a map showing its bird's-eye view" and that he then "overlooked it".
"Looking over the exterior of the apartment houses and public buildings, decorated with diverse coloured tiles, (Mr Kim) expressed great satisfaction, saying they looked very beautiful," the agency said.
It also said that Mr Kim visited the newly built Natural Energy Institute of the State Academy of Sciences.
Although the news release was dated Tuesday, it did not specify on which day he made the visits.
Uncle purged
During his absence, Mr Kim missed two high-profile public events - the 10 October anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Worker's Party and the 9 September Foundation Day of the North Korean State.
Analysts said they were two days in the political calendar when the leader would be expected to make an appearance.
Kim Jong-un took office on the death of his father, Kim Jong-il, in December 2011 and was quickly named head of the party, state and army.
In 2012 he was appointed marshal - the highest military rank - following a high-level military reshuffle.
Then, in December 2013, Mr Kim purged and executed his uncle, Chang Song-thaek, who state media said had been plotting a coup.

Turkish F-16 and F-4 warplanes have bombed Kurdish PKK rebel targets in Hakkari province near the Iraqi border, Turkish media report.

Both sides have been observing a ceasefire and it is the first major air raid on the PKK since March 2013.

Hurriyet daily said the air raids near the south-eastern village of Daglica on Monday caused "heavy casualties".

Kurds are angry at Turkey's refusal to help defend the Syrian border town of Kobane from Islamic State militants.

The Turkish newspapers Cumhuriyet and Milliyet have also reported clashes on Monday between the PKK and troops in the Tunceli area of east-central Turkey, far from the border.

The Turkish military said the Daglica air strikes were a response to sustained Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) shelling of a military outpost in the area.

The PKK had attacked the outpost for three days with heavy machine guns and rocket launchers, Hurriyet reported.

Evo Morales declares re-election victory in Bolivia
Bolivian President Evo Morales dedicates emphatic victory in his re-election campaign to Cuba's Fidel Castro

bf6rOsZ.jpg

Reuters -- Bolivian President Evo Morales declared a landslide re-election victory on Sunday, hailing it as a triumph for socialist reforms that have cut poverty and vastly expanded the state's role in the booming economy.

Official results had not yet been released but an exit poll and a quick count showed Mr. Morales, a former coca grower, trouncing his opponents with about 60 per cent of the vote and easily winning a third term in power.

Mr. Morales, who became Bolivia's first indigenous leader in 2006, will now be able to extend his "indigenous socialism", under which he has nationalized key industries such as oil and gas to finance welfare programs and build new roads and schools.

"This was a debate on two models: nationalization or privatization. Nationalization won with more than 60 per cent (support)," Mr. Morales told thousands of cheering supporters from the balcony of the presidential palace.

A prominent member of the bloc of socialist and anti-US leaders in Latin America, Mr. Morales dedicated his victory to Cuba's former communist leader Fidel Castro.

"This win is a triumph for anti-imperialists and anti-colonialists," Mr. Morales said.

His folksy appeal and prudent spending of funds from a natural gas bonanza to finance welfare programs, roads and schools have earned the 54-year-old wide support in a country long dogged by political instability.

Fireworks exploded over the palace – dubbed the "Burned Palace" in reference to Bolivia's history of coups – as Mr. Morales loyalists chanted "Evo, Evo".

A Mori exit poll released by Unitel television showed Mr. Morales winning 61 per cent of the vote. His closest rival, businessman Samuel Doria Medina, had 24 per cent.

A quick count released by local TV channel ATB showed Mr. Morales with 60.5 per cent of the vote.
The exit poll and quick count also showed Mr. Morales' Movement Toward Socialism reinforcing its grip on both the lower and upper houses in Congress, meaning he will be able to easily push through further reforms should he chose.

Official results were expected later on Sunday night.

"I voted for Morales," said Flavia Nunez, a 50-year-old office clerk, in central La Paz. "These other right-wing candidates would take us back in time. I don't want that."

Mr. Morales' rivals struggled to match his charisma or offer the Andean country's 6 million voters a more compelling vision for the economy, often focusing instead on corruption and the illegal drugs trade.

Morales campaign billboards ran the slogan "With Evo we're doing well".

Voters agreed, giving him another five-year term that means he will remain in office until January 2020.

He has delivered economic growth averaging above 5 per cent a year, also winning plaudits from Wall Street for running fiscal surpluses.

Under Mr. Morales, the number of Bolivians living in extreme poverty has fallen to one in five from more than a third of the population of 10 million in 2006.

Even so, Bolivia remains one of the poorest countries in the Americas.

Mr. Morales' critics accuse him of using his power to control the courts and of violating the constitution which limits a president to two consecutive terms.

Mr. Morales has said he will not run again at the next election in late 2019.

His comfortable victory on Sunday extinguished the hopes held by some voters for change.

"This government has had two terms and I don't like it when a small clique lingers on in power," economist Miguel Angel Perez, 53, who voted for Quiroga, said before the results were announced.

Argentina's polo season, the sport's Mecca, sees world-class 'hired assasins' back on home turf

As the Argentinian season kicks off, it is easy to see why there is nowhere in the world that can rival it, says Harriet Alexander

Daily Telegraph -- The message from Facundo Pieres, one of the greatest polo players in the world, was as cryptic as a code in a James Bond film.

cfZCxAQ.jpg

“Turtles,” it read. “What dreams are made of.”

But the 28-year-old described as “the emperor of polo” was not making an obscure reference to aquatic creatures.

Instead he was talking about the polo field in the well-heeled town of Tortugas – turtles, in English – which hosts one of the most hotly-anticipated events in the early polo calendar. And this week, that dream is coming true, when the Argentine rider takes part in the Tortugas Abierto – part of the Triple Crown, and the first major match of the season.

It is a season which, in the eye of many, well merits its mythical reputation.
“Argentina’s polo season is far and away the best in the world,” said Roderick Vere Nicholl, publisher of Hurlingham Media, a specialist polo magazine and website. “It’s got more players, a higher standard, and is all professional.

“It’s the Mecca for anyone interested in the sport.”

The high goal polo season – with teams having a total handicap of 22 goals or more – spans the best part of a year, taking professional players on a huge global circuit from Florida – January to April – to England and Europe for the British spring and summer, and then on to Argentina in September.

The season in the Latin nation began on September 21 with the Jockey Club Open, which was won by La Dolfina – a team which, alongside the Ellerstina team, has dominated the game for two decades.

QQaA0ke.jpg

And as the Argentinian season kicks off, it is easy to see why there is nowhere in the world that can rival it.

Of only seven players in the world who currently play with the top handicap of ten goals, all but one – Uruguayan David Stirling – are from Argentina. James Beim, the current captain of England’s polo team – who took over from Luke Tomlinson in July after their defeat to Argentina in the Coronation Cup, has a handicap of seven.

Entire families are dedicated to the sport, producing generations of champions – Facundo Pieres and his brothers Nicolas and Gonzalo will play together for the Tortugas Abierto, as part of the Ellerstina Team.

They will take on La Dolfina, the team of the legendary Adolfo Cambiaso – who at the age of 16 became the youngest ever to achieve a ten-goal handicap – and whose brothers Marcial and Salvador are also polo professionals.

Cambiaso is widely considered to be the greatest polo player who has ever lived, and has turned La Dolfina into an all-encompassing lifestyle brand with clothing, holidays and even a polo estate for anyone wanting to really live the dream.

Argentina’s players – known as “hired assassins” for their lethal role in European teams – are so formidable that a home-grown player rule has been introduced in the UK, meaning that the British riders are guaranteed a look-in among their South American colleagues.

Polo matches in Argentina are broadcast live on television, and the professionals greeted with the ardour normally reserved for footballers or film stars. Nacho Figueras, the US-based Ralph Lauren model and polo professional, has 16,000 followers on Twitter. Both he and Adolfo Cambiaso are married to models, and run lucrative sidelines in clothing design and paid appearances.

The three most prestigious games are played at Tortugas, at Hurlingham on November 2 – a suburb to the north of Buenos Aires – and finally the Argentine Open at Palermo, in the most stylish district of the capital. Not for nothing is Palermo known as the cathedral of polo, with 45,000 people flocking to watch the drama on the emerald turf, in the midst of the skyscrapers right in the centre of the city.

Six times as many people will attend the Palermo tournament as attended the British Open in 2012. Photos from the week-long spectacular, which culminates this year on December 6 and 7 with the Argentine Open and the World Polo Tour Championship Cup, plaster the pages of the gossip magazines.

But if the skill and glamour were not enough, it is also the history which so appeals to afficionados of the sport.

Within ten years of the first polo game being played in Britain, in 1869, it was being organised in Argentina – then progressing to the US and Australia.

In 1892 the River Plate Polo Club was founded, which acted as an association bringing together all the teams to play tournaments. Two decades later, following a series of meetings at Hurlingham, the Argentine Association of Polo was born.

Initially the game was dominated by Britons – of 248 players in the first handicap list, 139 were British. But by 1930, the sport had taken off, and of 974 players, less than a third had British surnames.

Soon it was rooted in the Argentine psyche.

“The history of civilisation is linked to the horse, and men throughout the ages benefited from its strength and speed; its valour in battle; its resistance to fatigue; its noble obedience right until death,” states the Argentine Polo Association, with considerable understatement.

And the Argentines became the best polo players in the world.

xiUXivT.jpg

“Often in rural areas children are in school from 7am to 12pm, so they’ve half a day every day of their lives that they can dedicate to polo – from the age of 12 or 13,” said Luke Tomlinson, the former England captain.

“They have more access to horses than anyone else in the world, and they receive advice from ex-10 goalers because invariably they have a cousin or an uncle who was very good.

“Most important, though, for any player, is being able to play full-time from as soon as they are old enough to want to be good. That can be any age from seven onwards. If as a kid they get that dream, it is the best time to start in order to keep that flame alive.”

And as the players line up at Tortugas this week – the scheduled matches for the weekend were postponed due to rain – that fire will be burning brightly.

With the glamour, the history, and the breathtaking talent, it’s an exciting time for all sports fans.

James Bond himself would be proud.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Fifteen people were feared dead after a ventilation grate collapsed Friday during a concert by a popular girls' band near South Korea's capital, officials said.

Fire officials said two people had been confirmed dead and 13 others were unresponsive after the accident in Seongnam, just south of Seoul. They said 10 others were seriously injured.

Photos of the scene showed a deep concrete shaft under the broken ventilation grate.

The officials said the victims were standing on the grate while watching an outdoor performance by girls' band 4Minute, which is popular across Asia.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity, citing department rules.

About 700 people had gathered to watch the concert, which was part of a local festival, the Yonhap news agency reported.

The YTN television network, citing unidentified witnesses, said many of the spectators were female students. The victims weren't immediately identified.

The cause of the accident wasn't immediately known.

The accident came as South Korea is still struggling to deal with a ferry disaster in April that left more than 300 people dead or missing.

According to Japanese government sources, Tokyo is sounding out Beijing about a negotiated settlement of the issue at a summit meeting. First, Prime Minister Abe would reassert to President Xi during their meeting that the Senkakus are an inherent part of Japanese territory. However, Abe would then acknowledge that China has a case as well, and finally propose settling the issue through mutual dialogue over time. However, the content of these talks would not be incorporated in a joint statement or other documents to be released following the meeting, according to the sources.

China has reportedly showed signs of accepting the proposal on condition that Japan will sit down for talks over the islands.

In order to secure a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe agreed to a significant concession in Tokyo’s ongoing dispute with China over the Senkaku Islands, according to Japanese media outlets.

As Shannon noted earlier today on China Power, Japanese officials now expect there to be a brief meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Japanese Premier Shinzo Abe during next month’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting in Beijing. The meeting would be the first between the two heads of state since they took their current positions. It comes after a prolonged Japanese charm offensive towards China, which resulted in extensive behind-the-scenes negotiations aimed at securing a heads of state meeting at APEC.

The meeting, which Japanese officials acknowledged would be more symbolic than substantive, did not come cheaply for Japan. Indeed, if Japanese media reports are accurate, Tokyo appears to have caved on the major issue that prevented a heads-of-state meeting to date.

On Thursday, Mainichi reported that Japan made a three-prong proposal to China in order to secure the meeting between the two heads of states next month. According to the report, which cited “Japanese government sources,” Japan proposed that during his meeting with Xi, Abe would first reassert that the Senkaku Islands are an inherent part of Japanese territory, but then “acknowledge that China has a case as well” to the islands. He would then propose that China and Japan seek to settle the issue through mutual dialogue over time. None of this would be included in a joint statement or any other documents officially released after the summit meeting.

Still, if the report is accurate, Abe’s acknowledgement that a territorial dispute exists and proposal to settle the issue through mutual dialogue represent huge concessions to long-standing Chinese demands.
