Vermin are loose everywhere, those creatures who have a hatred for the men, women, boys and girls who love one another and make this world fit for human habitation! Those who hate God and his creation, those who feed on, and disgorge hate and death, every where they spring up...., may God bring swift justice on those who would steal life from the merciful and loving human family, and may God have mercy on the soul of this young man whose life was taken, and those who love him, whose hearts are now broken, and the brother in arms who was wounded...

just another drug addict loser who was just looking for a way to end his miserable life. unfortunately he took a good guy with him.

Sorry no matter we may feel about the shooter in Ottawa I cannot allow that video. It violates several rules of this forum.

these folks all look like movie stars, and bless the Sergeant at Arms, lived up to his name he did,,,, dead vermin, are good vermin! and I really don't want to sound crass or uncaring, I'm sure the gunman likely has parents and maybe even a wife and children, but really, the only way to deal with a cold blooded murderer is the way the dear Sergeant at Arms was forced to..... unpleasant business, but must be done, now if we could introduce our beloved Sergeant to the black hooded hacker, it would be a most pleasant day indeed!

What a terribly tragic start to Canada's involvement in the global struggle against ISIS. It's about time Canada adopted its own version of the Patriot Act and took a serious step in preventing not only the return but also the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, whether abroad or at home.

Deepest condolences to those who were hurt and prayers to those who defend Canada.

Just letting everyone know that proper security measures have been taken to ensure no further harm can be done to troops exposed to public. Cant say what they are but we are all vigilant of our surroundings like we are trained to be. Mg concern is remembrance day though.

Um, no, absolutely not. The Patriot Act is a blight on civil liberties and I hope nothing like it ever shows up in Canada.

IIRC, you're a member of the Canadian Forces, aren't you? Stay safe out there man!

I believe that what we are seeing now is a coordinated series of attacks on North American targets. The fact that these are relatively low intensity attacks means they're just probing our defenses. The St-Louis riots showed that ISIS definitely have a fertile recruiting pool in NA. We may see some serious attacks coming up in the near future.

It's too bad Sino-American strategic distrusts are so high as to prevent cooperation and coordination to deal with Islamist jihads all over the world. I get it, China's a greater long-term threat economically, militarily, and culturally to the US than Islamic extremists, but as the Klingon proverb says, "only fools fight in a burning house," so the two middle kingdoms should put aside their differences and fight the Islamist jihad as partners.

The position of both countries is very different. The sponsors of IS are all friends of US, not of China: Saudi Arabia, other Gulf states, Turkey.

This just pisses me off. My condolences to the victims families.:(

A high school student in Washington state opened fire in a cafeteria at lunchtime, leaving one person dead and at least four injured before killing himself with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.

Eyewitnesses and law enforcement sources identified the shooter as Jaylen Fryberg, a freshman at Marysville Pilchuck High School. Marysville police administrative commander Robb Lamoureaux earlier declined to identify the suspect, but said he was a male student at the school.

He said the deceased victim was a female, but he did not say whether she was a student or staff member.
