I read several article saying the Dark Eagle Hypersonic missile will be fielded by next year and it has 17 mach and 1600 mile range.

That is crazy fast. So let say if the U.S does field such as weapon, does the hypersonic technology edge goes back to U.S in this competition?

Talking about this article?

Because inside of it the article specifically mentions October 26 of this year as a date that they messed up and couldn't get it on time.

They are only hoping that end of 2024 they can get something or another out.

Not that that reallyyyyy matters because we already have this stuff right here:

8000 kilometers in range and already proven to be 2100 kilometers in 12 minutes as an accomplished feat.

Technically, not as fast as mach 17, but here's where we go back to the beginning.

Remember how land of freedomania can't even get something done on time? Maybe it's because October 26 was too close to Halloween weekend and all the engineering bros wanted to party with the lingerie hoes (lol )...on a more serious note what I'm getting at is that it's clear that they are very inadequate in terms of the actually brains and smarts needed to get this kinda project working.

I absolutely can't imagine how they (or anyone for that matter) could go from having the Pershing 2 hypersonic missile as their last real hypersonic missile project to suddenly doing gigantic leaps to this proposal.

Military technology always goes in tiny increments. Never massive revolutions.

And if something were to magically jump forward like that...well it surely wouldn't be made by people who can't even keep up with a simple deadline.

Neigh, it would be very obviously apparent that the project was going SPECTACULARLY well. Either that or it would be ultra highly top secret and nobody would know a thing about it, ala Project Manhattan.

The US has been saying that the Dark Eagle will enter service next year for two years already. They even claimed it was entering service, except it was just the launchers without the missiles, because they can't get the missiles to work.

They can't even get the first stage to work reliably. The Dark Eagle aka LRHW is supposed to be a two stage solid rocket where the second stage is an unpowered glide body.

I am sure they will eventually get something that works. But I wouldn't put much credence on any of the deadlines they announce.

The US has grounded its entire fleet of Osprey helicopters after a report said a crash off the coast of Japan last week, which killed eight crewmembers, was due to a malfunction.

In related news, the pilot ran a Reddit profile committed to dispelling the myth of the Osprey's poor safety record.
