The image looks asymmetrical to me. On the left it looks like a strake then the canard in the back. On the right it looks like a continous LERX going into a wing. Im just going to ignore this one for now.

That's because the Canards are angled upwards slightly and the aircraft has a small tilt. This happens with the J-20 aswell from certain angles where the canard may seem closer to the wing on one side.

(not a perfect comparison)

I'm still surprised it has Canards, the difference between these artworks and the previous ones are that the shape seems more consistent and these were directly presented by the USAF to trump in the white house. Any deflection angle on the Canard during inflight maneuvers will also exaggerate that illusion.

This is just too good on so many levels
- Boeing
- Canard aka J20 clone after decade of claiming canard isnt stealth (and of all the NGAD concepts they picked this one)
- 47 because Trump is 47th
- Just starting design now while China already flight testing two
- High profile announcement with only CG, while China announced with flight over city

Its just so pathetic, if I were American I will proberbly also start doing copium
Nah. It is much healthier to start learning XJP Thought.

From a technical standpoint the canards are not as big of a problem to address. With proper treatment it is not going to be a problem. Crop the tip, add saw tooth pattern and RAM on leading/trailing edge, and treat any gap with the connection to the fuselage and you should be good to go.

(This is an open question, not just directed at @siegecrossbow)

How would the stealth performance of a delta wing plane without canards compare to one with canards?

Iirc, the discussion around the J-20's canards was still in the context of comparing it to a plane with an empennage. But in this case, we're talking about an entirely additional set of flight control surfaces.
