Interesting podcast about the War [From a Russian expert in the US who is from Ukraine. He is not biased]

Quick summary
  • Russia wanted to quick and dirty war (Crimea 2.0). Secure the south while avoiding cities and create a land bridge to Crimea while rushing to Kyiv to cause the govt. to collapse.
  • While doing that also push a small units forward to cause the Ukrainian military to collapse.
  • A reason why Russian propaganda machine is MIA is because this war is they wanted to keep this war from their public. This explains why they never use the term "invasion" or "war" and are instead calling this "special operation." This war was very unpopular in Russia
They essentially underestimated Ukrainian resolve and assumed the west won't overreact. But they miscalculated.

This explains why we're not seeing RuAF or the Russian artillery and why we are seeing this mess of the Russian small groups going into cities and suburbs and driving around without purpose AND getting picked off.

Going forward, I think the Russian will retool and reassembly and re-adjust. I think they will bring the big guns because at this point Putin essentially bluffed charged to scare his opponent--Ukraine--but instead got punched in the face. The west are bringing the Russian economy to its knees and the country is getting isolated from Europe. He essentially has nothing else to lose.
With Putin and his team in charge the west was always going to isolate and marginalise Russia, why not take the initiative as Putin has done and secure russias western borders in perpetuity?

This is probably a good thing, long term. It'll decrease the power of oil oligarchs across the world.

Nope. I'm still team Russia ride or die. Down with imperialism! Quitting when you're close to winning will make everything for nothing.

It's a political and diplomatic war now. And the Russian/Soviets are the masters at that, there's a reason the games called Russian roulette. Both sides will blink and come to an agreement just like they did each time they had to in the Cold War.

The Brits have already backed of from their regime change plan and we're not even at DEFCON 1 yet.

Calling for a regime change was literally the most inflammatory thing I've ever seen, from literally anyone anywhere. If I was a world leader or world diplomat, I'd basically count the UK out of the international order. That was just... pants on head retarded. UK can no longer be trusted as a responsible member of the international community.

And before anyone asks, yes, Russia can be still, because they actually have grievances that need to be addressed. Their escalation ladder was not good (in my opinion) but they still had one.

I don't have doubts about the warhead performance but definitely have doubts about the delivery vehicles. Didn't some U.S. Minutemen fail to launch recently? Those things are literal Cold War relicts.
But the ones the Russians have aren't.

I have seen these Russian units in videos now

they dont seem to yet integrate the infantry, amour and artillery yet

also Ukrainians are standing in front of them opening fire and there is no return fire from the Russians

few shots are fired towards the Russians and they bunch together and show no sign of a infantry fighting force

I think we have conscripts here this is not a professional Army

so my question is where are the real Russian units and why have they not been deployed

and this is the worst convey system I have ever seen!

now the traffic jam outside Kiev is 17km long!

Mearsheimer telling it the way it is, though it is preaching to the choir to most of the non-shill people here.

Although he does hope for an alliance of US and Russia against China, I'm glad his hope is in shambles now:D
