holier than thou doesn't really apply to me as I am criticizing a very narrow set of behaviors. I am not saying these people are bad people and I am a good person.Lol do you man, and let us other Chinese folks who don't quite share your holier than thou attitude be. We have a divergent view if opinion and I do hurtily respect yours and your wish to rise above the fray is admirable which I do hope succeeds.
But in my post your post was responding to, I am criticizing mainlanders are being holier than thou when they categorically bash Taiwanese as scum bags. Chinese people on both sides of the straight have had some really tough times over the last century. After Japanese colonization and KMT white terror/marshal law, they finally have some say for themselves and are doing pretty well. so no matter peaceful or forceful unification, it will go a long way to gain their trust if they feel mainlanders can understand them and be in their shoes. only then there is any chance they will be a part of rejuvenation of our nation.
