Yes, they have progress quite fast, especially in the Southern front. Even in Kiev, people forget that it is a city of 3 million and it is day 4. It took a day or two to just get there. It will take a few more days to finish the job, and that is quite amazing. Part of the reason was Kiev did not prepare until well after the invasion.
just out of curiosity what are the comparison of the speed of russian advancement to US in Iraq War?

I realize that, but the cost of war & sanctions is going to take a heavy toll on the Russian economy. The quality of life of the average Russian is going to go down.
@Aegis21 I heard the same thing before when Crimea was annex by Russia in 2014, after that the Russian had become stronger and sanction proof, A huge landmass and resource rich country with a population of 145 million, Russia is self sufficient tech wise , minerals and food security, you added Ukraine in the mix, it had become a commodity superpower, Now you tell which one will suffer? High Inflation is heading toward the West, while the Russian is laughing all the way to the bank....lol

It's going to look extremely bad on paper, GDP will drop below a trillion but I suspect life will still be quite fine materially after the initial layoff shock. Russia is self sufficient in many ways

I want to remind everyone that this conflict is the result of US maximum pressure tactic against Russia, and this could very well also be a test run for its future use on China. So, if you aren't a US-shill, please understand that China backs Russia for a reason even though you may be against the war itself.

US has managed to corner Russia through the expansion of NATO, potentially placing troops, missiles + ballistic missile defense system within 1000 km of Moscow. If it succeeds to do so in Ukraine, Russia and Belarus could be attacked through a pincer movement. Furthermore, US managed to rile up tensions between Ukrainians and Russians, whom are "brothers" joined by a shared ancestry and history through political manipulation and outright coup. Russia simply has no other option left unless it bows down to NATO to become another disfunctional state akin to Ukraine. And US is trying to catch the bear by the tail and making it bleed out through supplying Ukrainians MANPADS + ATGMs and applying sanctions.

Likewise, US has suceeded in aggravating tensions across the Taiwan strait through the use of political opportunists. US also spares no effort in attempting to box in China militarily. Today, Shinzo Abe has publically discussed the deployment of US nuclear weapon in Japan. Recent US military sales to Taiwan included large numbers of Javelin and Stinger missiles, a trend that is expected to continue. I think everyone can connect the dots here at this point. This is why I want Russia to score a decisive victory in Ukraine, to completely dismantle US's desire to repeat this tactic every again. Failing that, I hope Russia can at least demostrate to certain political opportunists that the cost of playing along is too high.

So I think I figured out what's going on.

Putin invaded Ukraine to show everyone what happens when Russia's redline is crossed. People can't figure out the objective of this invasion because there is no objective, or more accurately, the military objective is secondary and can change depending on the situation. The primary objective is to show all of Russia's neighbors: this is what will happen if you try to join NATO.

The Chinese proverb for this is to kill a chicken to scare the monkeys. Unfortunately in this case, Ukraine volunteered to be the chicken.

This also explains what the US' objective is, which is to counter Putin's objective by portraying the Russia military as backwards and incompetent. The US doesn't care what the actual situation is in Ukraine, so long as they can spin the result into Russia suffering heavy damage due to Ukrainian resistance. This will bolster not only the Ukrainians but also other countries neighboring Russia that may consider joining NATO.

So the primary objective of both US and Russia are non-military. Some might ask why the Russians are silent then. Well, maybe they're not actually silent. It's quite possible that the social media giants are heavily filtering what we see and read. For example, @panzerfeist1 mentioned that YouTube is not allowing the upload of videos that contradict the Western narrative. In this day and age, people should stop being naive about what they read and hear.
