Who would put economic sanctions on the US? China? China has a lot of assets in the US that the US could "acquire" not to mention the $1.1 trillion portion of our national debt ($234 billion to Taiwan) we could write off. It would be in the interest of both countries to just let Taiwan remain Taiwan. Everybody wins that way.
Oh yes. I do remember when it was reported back in April 2020 to cancel debt from China to pay for corona. Then they later paraded Kudlow out on CNBC to publicly deny the report.

“The full faith and credit of U.S. debt obligations is sacrosanct,” Javers quoted Kudlow as saying. “And so is our commitment to maintaining the U.S. currency as the world’s reserve currency.” (Reporting by Tim Ahmann; editing by Susan Heavey)

Default on the Debt. Not even Trump would do it back then.

Forcing them to land is one thing, starting to shoot down commercial airlines is a no go policy. This would effectively lead to World War III
Here's the thing. Europeans aren't going to shoot down civilian airliners. If Russian airliners trying to return to Russia just ignore them they'd likely be allowed to return to Russia. Coming out would be another matter. Also, if those jets are operated by almost anybody but a Russian airline, they'd honor a request to land or turn around.

Big difference between than and a hot war. And everybody would know it. Just another weapon in the arsenal.

Lot of pages to go through since last night. Still I have no idea what's going on because both sides if they were losing would lie.
I read through 365 continuous pages and gave up.... you are not missing anything. Most of it was not very informative.
How about this threat to immediately make Ukraine a member of NATO. All so to get NATO countries to directly send their armies to attack Russia. They don't need to make Ukraine a member of NATO to do that. Why not just start militarily attacking China while they're at it? They already think the Chinese are evil. They need no excuses. The fact is what's holding them back from doing any of these things is the fear of losing what they have. So I don't know where this belief China needs to be scared of a US-EU gang-up comes from. Europe still needs money and natural resources from others. Even the US is vulnerable because American culture is of greed and greedy people are not by nature content with what they just have. So unless they want to return to where the world sees them as the monster rampaging the countryside, they should remember the countryside has nukes now.
China doesn't have to fear anything from these capitalists. So long as China is economically powerful, it's not possible for West to gang-up on China and risk losing a major import/export market (just like Europe cannot afford losing Russia's energy imports). In America, anyone can speak up and share their opinions, but not every opinion matters. Most of the neocon warhawks sharing anti-China views are likely paid by military-industrial complex to whip up 'enemy fervor' to justify large defense budgets post-Cold War, and doesn't necessarily represent the view of Wall Street, Big Corporations, and Billionaire class who all are invested heavily in China or Greater China markets.
