China would not take over the whole country and install a puppet government. They tried that once in Ming Dynasty. Didn't work.
Ming Dynasty was annexation. They had equal rights and no attempt at demographic change or permanent unequal treaties was done, won't make that mistake again. Just like Russia won't make the mistake of allowing Ukrainians equal rights again like they did for Baltics back in WW2, without altering the demographics.

MOSCOW — All Russian units in Ukraine were on Saturday given the order to resume their offensive from all directions after a pause on Friday, the RIA news agency quoted Russia’s defense ministry as saying.

Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Since the Ukrainian side refused to negotiate, the advance of the Russian forces resumed this afternoon, said a Kremlin spokesman.

I don’t recall this ever being posted here and if so… how did we all miss it?. They paused the offensive on Friday and didn’t resume until Saturday afternoon. In other words, the offensive didn’t resume until 12 hours ago. It’s Sunday 1 AM in Russia right now.

They’re gittin’ desperate!

Let's stop and think a second. What is more probable?

1) Russia wanting to show how serious they are to have a quick regime change (a coup) or surrender by Ukraine regime with minimal civilian loses and city wreckage.

2) Not knowing /planning how to use superior (technologically, numerically, and capability wise) air force and artilleries.

I think it is the 1st one.

Also when you look at the map. Crimea doubled in size in 3 days. so even without using their full force, it is acceptable for now.

Just ‘cause we disagree doesn’t mean you’re correct! I neither seek, nor do I need consensus!

I've seen it. I'm not so sure I believe it. If feels more like this pause was due to logistics. That they are having logistics issues this early is very surprising.

The videos and reports of Russian soldiers looking for fuel seems to support this.
